Cruz, Trump to meet up

(CNN) - Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, will meet with real estate titan Donald Trump on Friday afternoon in New York City, Michael Cohen, a spokesman for the billionaire, confirmed.

With Trump being a vocal figure on the future of the Republican Party, the meeting stirs more speculation that Cruz may be gearing up for a 2016 presidential bid.

Trump was known as a power broker during the 2012 Republican primaries; multiple candidates ventured to New York City in search of the billionaire's blessing.

Both Trump and Cruz were in Iowa in August for the evangelical Family Leader Conference. It was one of many stops for Cruz to the Hawkeye State, as well as other crucial presidential primary states, this year.

Cruz contacted Trump within the last month to arrange Friday's meeting, according to a source familiar with the plans. It's scheduled to take place at Trump Tower at 2 p.m. ET.

Trump himself flirted with a presidential bid in 2011 and hasn't ruled out a potential campaign in 2016.

He told ABC News that he was willing to spend big on a presidential campaign - that is, if he decides to run for real this time.

"If I did it, I'd spend whatever it took," Trump told ABC's "This Week."

You always have to go to the money people, to get elected in America..........no matter which side of the aisle you are on.

    No, you don't

Are you that ignorant? Really? You are just too cute. Take a look at how much Wall Street "contributed" to Obama's campaign and get back to me. Maybe you can get your learn on and educate yourself a bit. Here's a newsflash: Obama is just as bought and paid for as any president, perhaps more than any other. My goodness.

Well, I hope that if Trump endorses Cruz who wins the nomination and then loses in a fantastic blow out by whoever wins the Democratic nomination.

I think this is actually a "birther" talking point strategizing session.

FACT: Cruz was born in Canada, which means there are no American records of his birth.
FACT: Children born overseas to US citizens can have dual citizenships. One for the country of their birth and the US.
FACT: Chilcren born overseas to US citizens are not automatically US citizens.
FACT: Children born overseas to US citizens must go and fill out the routine paperwork to claim US citizenship.
FACT: Ted Cruz has never filled out paperwork to claim his US citizenship.

By his own admission a few months back, the Cruz spokesperson had claimed that Cruz was "automatically" a US citizen because of his mother. The spokesperson continued on to say that Cruz has never filed a citizenship claim and doesn't need to.

FACT: Ted Cruz has never claimed his US citizenship, and is therefore officially a Canadian. He has to wait 14 years.

Geez, tom, you sound a little angry there. Could it be you are turning into a demagogue because you are too busy sucking down the rightie/libertarian Kool-aide? You assume way too much when you start opening up on people, and your assumptions are usually wrong. Maybe you need to get off the barricades a little, and stop your patronizing, arrogant manner before you have a stroke.

I had to stop to LMAO when I read the "trump blessing" paragraph.
Are they going to eat tacos (US Texas) with a fork like he did pizza with the screecher from AK? Sorry, what is the favorite dish of Canadians? That's where this terrorist is from.
Is he bringing his Canadian birth certificate with him to show what's his face that he doesn't have to send his investigators anywhere since he was really born in Canada not that he has a chance in heck to win the presidency of the US?

    Thanks, The Real Tom Paine.

Little tom, I noticed that you omitted the most relevant part of the quote.

"No, you don't. Where were you in 2008 when Barack Obama raised millions from small donations?"

Back in 2008. Back before we had a Citizen's United. Back when there were some campaign finance laws that sort of worked. Back when Wall Street was pouring money mostly to Republicans like McCain, not the Democrats like Obama.

    "Nice try, but we gotcha."

    Correct.

The media may still take him seriously, but people see this love connection and go "ew" ... and move on.
