President's marks as manager take hit in new CNN/ORC poll
Washington (CNN) - Only four out of 10 Americans believe President Barack Obama can manage the federal government effectively, according to a new national poll.
And a CNN/ORC International survey released Monday morning also indicates that 53% of Americans now believe that Obama is not honest and trustworthy, the first time that a clear majority in CNN polling has felt that way.

According to the survey, conducted last Monday through Wednesday, 40% say the President can manage the government effectively. That 40% figure is down 12 percentage points from June and is the worst score Obama received among the nine personal characteristics tested in the new poll.
"A lot of attention has focused on the President's numbers on honesty in new polling the past three weeks, but it looks like the recent controversy over Obamacare has had a bigger impact on his status as an effective manager of the government, and that may be what is really driving the drop in Obama's approval rating this fall," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said.
Does being an effective manager count more than honesty?
"Just ask Bill Clinton, whose overall approval ratings remained high during and after the Monica Lewinsky scandal because three-quarters of all Americans thought he could get things done, even though only about one in five said he was honest," Holland added.
Obama's woes are not limited to honesty and his managerial skills. Fifty-six percent say he is not a person they admire, and an equal number say he does not agree with them on important issues. Fifty-six percent also say he does not inspire confidence, and 53% don't view him as a strong and decisive leader. All of those figures are all-time records for Obama in CNN polling.
There is a silver lining in the poll for the President: He's still seen as someone who cares about ordinary Americans, six in 10 say he has a vision for the country's future, and seven in 10 say he is likable–his best attribute of the nine items tested in this poll. But the numbers are down for both admiration and likeability.
"It's clear that views of Obama as a person - once his strong suit - have taken a hit in October and throughout 2013," said Holland.
The poll was conducted November 18-20 for CNN by ORC International, with 843 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

It doesn't matter if people "like" him or not....this is not a popularity contest. The economy is in the crapper. People are earning less than they did before. More people having to rely on govt assistance, and all the wasted tax dollars on "shovel ready" jobs was pathetic. Just wait and see what happens with the stock market after the feds turn off the printing presses. Rather than dealing with what really matters, I'm sure that amnesty for illegals will be next.

Sorry, pal, but you're not facing reality here. Obama has NEVER tried to build relationships with Congress (and Dems will tell you this as well)...not with Democrats and certainly not with Republicans. He talks a good game but doesn't act on it. Clinton was just the opposite. Clinton talked tough but he worked effectively with both sides to get things done. As for not liking Obama because of who he is, well, sorry there bud but "who he is" is a huge part of why things are the way they are. He doesn't take accountability, he doesn't know, it's his way or the highway, he changes laws arbitrarily. Obama's problems as a President ARE due (and reasonably so) to his problems as a person. The POTUS is the most significant leadership position in the world, and as we are painfully seeing, it requires more than just someone who can make a great speech and tell a fawning public what they want to hear.

Just for the record, a lie is the deliberate statement of something contrary to what you know to be true. If I tell you something that I know not to be true, that is a lie. If, however, I tell you something that I believe to be true, but is not true, that is not a lie – I am simply wrong. I had no intention to deceive.
If you believe that President Obama knew that plans would be cancelled and still announced in widely-recorded, on the record, public forums that they would not be cancelled, then yes, he lied.
However, it seems absurd to me that he would have been so public with his remarks on so scrutinized an issue if he knew the opposite to be true. The bottom line is that he was not lying. He may have been naive, misinformed, or trusting of the wrong people, but he did not lie.
Obama has used the IRS to go after political opponenets, used the NSA to snoop on everybody, abandoned the Embassy in Bengazi then blamed everything on a video that went out 6-months before the attack, the Dept. of Homeland security has bought 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition and for who knows what purpose, lied about Obamacare to get elected which was passed using parlamentry shananigans, fabricated an issue claiming Republicans were holding up his judical nominations when he has had more nominees go through in five years then W Bush had in eight to undo the filibuster, he changing laws by executive order bypassing the legislative branch and libs who supposedly believe in the rule of law and who preach the ends don't justify the means are still are in his corner defending his actions. Unbelievable.

If you are going to get angry at Obama – why not get angry about something that he is really responsible for and not simply blame him for Congress's inactions? The government is controlled by the wealthy and the system has been broken since Reagan. PS – You can't impeach someone simply because you don't like them. There is no such thing as the "Liberal Media". All the media outlets are owned by the wealthy people who want the focus on the poor and disadvantaged instead on themselves.
Couldn't you post this story any lower on this page? Obama tanks in your own poll and you have as the top story that a Democrat won a race in Virginia? If you wanted to hide this poll why even print it.

I switched from Democrat to Republican before this idiot was elected President. I didnt want anything to do with him because I saw his policies and ran. For those of you who love him just remember, Love Is Blind. We are worse off as a country because of him. Dont vote for people because you think they are cool, vote for them because they know how to create job so the American (not Chinese) people can get back to work and feel good about themselves. Living on Welfare is bad for this country. Just remember for those of you on assistance. It is amazing to me how many people on here throw the blame for all his woes on the GOP. While they certainly haven't been the most cooperative, am I to believe the source of this man's problems lie solely at the feet of the Republican party?
Said another way, I own a company with a fair number of employees. Every quarter, we have a focus meeting where I give company update including financials etc. Just for Chits and giggles, let's say I lie to my employees at each focus meeting.......is the distrust that follows created by me or my dastardly receptionists? Simply put, the man doesn't know how to speak the truth nor does he have any integrity.....that can't be blamed on the GOP

Worst president in recent history. We will be paying for his poor policies for decades to come. Our children will be burdened with paying for his increases to entitlements and deficits. But the damage to the US's image as a world leader is immeasurable.

Fast & Furious (executive order to cover up for Holder), IRS Scandel, Benghazi (it was a video LIED to get re-elected), NSA, sending his bulldog Holder after the media, Obamacare. Does anyone still remember the Gulf Oil Spill which went over over 50 days? He was completely incompetent in handling this situation as well. That should have told people something back then but everyone was in love with him. This man has proven himself to be incompetent and a liar. That's what you get when you elect a President that never accomplished anything. Community organizers and liberal elite professors do not make good Presidents!
It's funny how the so-called poll says 4 in 10 believe he is trustworthy, whereas this small sample on here is closer to 0.5 in 10. Hmmmm.

I should hope this President and previous Presidents are and were too busy dealing with issues we have no awareness of to pay attention to polls. Personally I can't wait for a Republican to take charge just so I can hear all of you bitch about how they treat YOU. Perhaps I'm wrong and all of you are members of that glorious 1%. If I recall correctly, the polls didn't really get it right as far as the last election was concerned so, why should anyone pay attention to them. I'm sure Obama doesn't. As far as I'm concerned, and I'm nobody, it's obvious to see what is happening here. The republican playbook is one that, if you put out a straight forward lie and repeat it obsessively in the media, people will start to believe that lie. The media has the power, more so, to do the same thing. If they report a story and just run with it, they're going to get the same results because politicians and the media are one in the same in that they take the public for being complete idiots. Their problem is, is that they're wrong. End of story.
Of course people don't trust Obama. He is the face of big government. He's constantly telling everyone to trust the government and not listen to people who question it. FAR better presidents in the past would tell you to never trust the government. They would tell you not to stand by your president, but by your country.
Obama is calling the GOP an impediment and other democrats are are following suit. I am very concerned about the tone and fear that the democrats are leading the country from a two party system down the rode to Demonazi. The Dems have previously used the same tactics that the GOP is using and if you compare their role today as to 8 years ago, the Dems have completely changed their point of views such as with the Nuclear option.
