Mike Tyson to Piers Morgan: Obamacare is 'really bad'

(CNN) - He used to be a big supporter of the Affordable Care Act, but Mike Tyson now says Obamacare's suffered a knockout.

"It just really went horrible," the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world told CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview that aired Wednesday evening on "Piers Morgan Live."

"It's really, it's really bad," Tyson added.

The comments appear to be a change of opinion for Tyson, who in an 2012 interview with Morgan applauded President Barack Obama's efforts on health care, adding that the President and Vice President Joe Biden  "give the people in that desperational need, that hope."

The start up of Obamacare over the past two months has been extremely flawed, with major problems plaguing, the system's main website for people to sign up for coverage, and with a controversy over insurance policy cancellations due primarily to the new national health law.

Tyson says he still believes in giving health care coverage to the millions of Americans currently without insurance, but added that "as of now it doesn't seem they can get it. I was for it a 100 percent but we just have to come to the reality that it didn't work."

Using this kind of logic in the 60's, we never would have made it to the moon. No other social program in this nation's history has been sabotaged and attacked as much as this one. I ask again, why is it that every other first world country can provide some form of universal health care except this one? It might have something to do with the republican party being in the pockets of the insurance companies and health care providers. Best politicians money can buy.

SMH. Tyson doesn't know his "brass" from a hole in the ground and suddenly he's an expert on government policy. Give it time to work. One hundred years in the making, ACA is a marathon not a sprint.

Well, the GOP must be proud.

Now they have Mike Tyson to add to their list of B-list celebrities such as Dennis Miller and Chuck Norris.

Does it mean he is qualified to judge? Another Moran that has no thinking except his macho–macho. Does this idiot even know insurance thugs DENY PRE-EXISTING CONDITION PATIENTS? Hospitals loot Medicare? Nonsense. CNN, don't ask Tom, dick, and Harry.

Such a pathetic article. Come on CNN. This is your most articulate critic of the ACA? I lost my health insurance when my job ended. I have asthma. I can get insurance again, cannot be turned down. All my annual check ups are covered 100%. Where is the failure? Of course, it is in states like Texas (where I live), states that refused to participate and thus brought unnecessary hardship and expense to it's low income citizens. Health care coverage is complicated. Get someone to talk about it who understands it.

Guess half the people here didn't read the last paragraph where he says he wants the millions w/o health insurance to get it, but the website is holding them back.

He still believes in obamacare, just not the website because it's broken.

    Learn to read please.

Patience is a virtue. Obamacare will work. It just takes time to correct itself. The civil rights act, social security, medicare, and Medicaid took a long time to work in this country. We, here in the U.S, just want everything done right and fast. We should just take a deep breath and be calm.

This is funny. Republicans are now gloating over the fact that Mike Tyson agrees with them. Shouldn't that worry Republicans?

To me the wake up call here is that we find ourselves in a time where job ethics are waning. People pass the buck more than ever, yet at the same time – enjoy all of the perks of the title. Selection I hope, for leading projects such as this will be about the person's abilities – not about the abilities of their staff that just happen to make them look good.. so you know.. you put them in charge. Because... there are those that do – and those that pass the work on but claim it as their own.... This.. is flawed..

In the name of health care reform, B.O. took over health insurance which at best makes it a health insurance reform and a bad one at that. Here is an idea considering how much money has been wasted – take that money and insure the uninsurable while LEAVE THE REST OF US ALONE.

Government can have a safety net as its program, but it's B.S. to make us buy an inferior product at a higher price while NOT admiting the reason for the super high cost to be subsiding for people who aren't paying. If it's so good, why should ANYONE be exampted? This is B.S. Good for Mike Tyson to speak true to his heart and not play politics.
