Obamas might stay in DC after presidency

(CNN) – After the elections in 2016, President Barack Obama will leave the White House, but he may not leave Washington.

In an interview with ABC, Obama said the decision will revolve around Sasha, the President and First Lady Michelle Obama's youngest daughter, who will be a sophomore in high school when he leaves office. Malia, the oldest daughter, will be in college.

"'Cause she's, you know, obviously they - and Michelle - have made a lot of sacrifices on behalf of my cockamamie ideas, the running for office and things," Obama told ABC's Barbara Walters. The interview with the President and First Lady was recorded last week and is scheduled to air Friday evening on the network.

"Sasha will have a big say in where we are," he said, though they have not made a definitive decision on whether to move.

Both daughters attend Sidwell Friends School, a private school in Northwest Washington that President Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, also attended during his presidency.

ABC News notes that the last president to stay in Washington after leaving office was Woodrow Wilson. The Obamas have a home in Hyde Park, a neighborhood south of downtown Chicago along the shore of Lake Michigan. The Obamas lived in Hyde Park for two decades before moving to the White House.

First Lady not big believer in Facebook for young people

Michelle Obama also said in the interview that she's wary of social media, specifically Facebook.

"I still am not a big believer in Facebook for young people," she said, especially for her daughters given that they're under constant public scrutiny.

"Some of it's stuff they don't need to see and be a part of… So we try to protect them from too much of the public voice."

A woman president

Obama said the next president to sit in the Oval Office might be a woman.

"We have some amazing female [public] servants all across the country and there is no doubt that sometime very soon, we're going to have a female president," he said.

Asked by Walters if he thought the First Lady would make a better president than he is, Obama said, "of course."

"That's an easy question," he said, though "She's smart enough to know that she might not want to go through the process."

And despite approval ratings reaching new lows over the last month, Obama maintained that his signature healthcare law is "going be a legacy I am extraordinarily proud of" regardless of the troubled launch of, the federal online marketplace where consumers can enroll in an insurance plan, and controversies over insurance policy cancellations.

---just one year passed, three years left, it is a long time. Do the stuff that you are entrusted, first, legacy stands alive well. Good luck, such as infrastructure, voter reform, immigration, green energy, earmark, filibuster reform, tax code redone etc... A whole lot in a short period of time.

The ACA is something that will cost republicans elections for the next generation. Despite the efforts of Fox and the hundreds of millions the Kochs and their ilk have spent to destroy it, people with pre existing conditions will be insured, no caps on major surgeries, and all Americans will have to pay toward their health care premiums, and no more freebies for republicans.

Republicans ran on jobs and Boehner won't bring the senate bill to a vote, he won't bring the bipartisan immigration senate bill to a vote, he won't vote on food stamps or benefits to our veterans, but he can bring votes against ACA 46 times, votes against women's rights 40 times. It must be nice to make $200,000 a year as speaker of the house, and try to destroy the government that pays him.

So Barbara wonders about how such a young man, when he leaves the Presidency, might do something else, like be a governor or something. That is in her interview tonite. Are you kidding me? No President ever takes on a lesser office. But more importantly, no state would ever want him. And if for some reason they did, and they got him, it would be mass exodus from that state before it goes down in ruin. The best thing about Obama is that he makes Jimmy Cartwr look good. I cannot think of any other two people in the same room with less personal ego than Barbara and Obama. I witnessed her and her entourage from The View getting on a United Airlines flight from LaGuardia to O'Hare a few years ago. They kept everyone else waiting in the concourse as they stood around in First Class blocking the aisles and acting like it was their private plane and we did not exist. and I am from Illinois and watched this clown Obama think that his job as a Senator was just to pontificate, vote "present" and run for President. Can't wait until three years are up and he is a private citizen that no one cares about.

Of course they would, it is the richest area in the country and they have become very, very rich through his corrupt administration and flouting of the constititution. The "knockout" game (which the liberally biased media does not want to report ) is a reflection of the personal corruption of Obama.

As long as it is not the Deep South, Obama will be welcomed. As for the worst president, the family of Herbert Hoover has to thank George W Bush for taking home that honor.

I know this is off topic, but does anyone remember if Obama EVER spent Thanksgiving with the troops, rather than he and his lady ga-ga getting feted by the White House chef?

Why would they stay in DC? It's one of the worst places to live in the country. I left that traffic infested, freezing cold, windy/gray rat race full of miserable people ten years ago. Every time I go back I am reminded why I don't want to live there. Make your money and get out as fast as you can.

I lost my insurance not long ago due to the ACA. The comparable replacement insurance is about 50% more. Countless patients of mine are being thrown into the same mess. Nancy Pelosi was not kidding when she said We have to pass the bill for you can find out what's in it. What a disaster of a concept and implementation of a poorly thought out law. No significant tort reform was included in this disaster. I think BO could take a dump on a liberals front porch and they will cheer about free fertilizer.

Dr. Keller states we should Replace Kathleen Sebelius: As secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Sebelius has been a formidable opponent of tort reform. With no medical education or clinical experience, she is the wrong person to be the cabinet secretary in charge of implementing healthcare reform. A qualified physician should be appointed to replace her as the country’s chief healthcare administrator.

It amazes me that liberals can keep blaming the ACA mess on Republicans. Between the "we have to pass the bill to find out what's in i" and "we won, we get to write it" of Nancy Pelosi and the rejection of every Republican proposal, this disaster is all the Democrats doing. In order to insure 30 million uninsured, low-income citizens, this Administration has managed to screw over at least 100 million.

Where is the lie? YOU CAN KEEP YOUR INSURANCE POLICY as long as you can pay what insurance company asks you to pay. Only the freebies complain that their insurance got cancelled because they have been paying premium that were discounted it s next to nothing..
