Rand Paul ‘seriously considering’ run for president

(CNN) – Tea party darling Sen. Rand Paul said Sunday he’s seriously considering a run for president in 2016 - but he also has serious concerns.

"The thought has crossed my mind,” Paul said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I am seriously thinking about it, but I'm also very serious about family considerations.”

Is Paul running for president? Ask his wife

Paul was asked about running for higher office on Friday at the Detroit Economic Club. He said his wife controls both available votes in his family. “Both of them are ‘no’ votes right now,” he told the audience.

For now, Paul said, he still has time to make a decision and will weigh how his decision will affect both him and his family.

"I'll just keep doing the things I want to do and, I think, what the people of Kentucky elected me to do. I just am not ready to make a decision yet," Paul said.

CNN’s Leigh Ann Caldwell contributed to this report.

    Tea Party darling? Tea Party could not even stop Romney from winning the Republican primary in 2012. Paul may seriously consider a run for president, but American people will not seriously consider him.

    I think we should be allowed to recover from the last republican 'reign of error' before we embark on more republican destruction of the country.

    Why shouldn't he run for President? He's a Republican, one of the top two most corrupt and useless political parties in the US. I'm sure Paul would be fine as the person in charge of "business" as usual"... and should he win, it will be because he convinced people that he would not be business as usual.

    Rand wants to establish economic freedom zones where federal money can be distributed to big corporations. Talk about redistribution of the wealth. Does that make him a socialist, Marxist, communist?

    It all makes perfect sense.
    Rand Paul has been exhibiting a fundamental character flaw common among tea-chugging conservative POTUS wannabes - he rarely does his homework before making public comments regarding important science-related issues, societal topics, and historical events, and he is not mature enough to accept responsibility for his own mistakes, failures, and shortcomings.

    Sorry Rand - you may indeed by able to win the 2016 Republican Party nomination for POTUS, but there simply are not enough anarchists, racists, and conspiracy theorists among the electorate to get you into the White House.

    Bottom line: Americans want someone just like Rand to be our next POTUS ... except he or she needs to be much more intelligent, informed, and empathetic ... and infinitely less misogynistic, manipulative, sanctimonious, and self-serving.

    Providing that Mr. Paul survives what is starting to look like another "clown-car season" for the GOP, whoever is the Democratic candidate will be having a battle of wits with an unarmed man when debate time roles around in 2 1/2 years.

    ----

    Yikes, talk about clueless, or just out spreading total lies, just like Obama.

    He's talking about leaving all the tax money THERE, with the people THERE, to use and rebuild THERE. Why take all their tax money, skim 30% of it for the federal bureaucracy and return 70 cents on the dollar? Only brain dead lefties think this efficient and effective. The people that live and work there know better what their needs are than the massive federal bureaucracy.

    I suppose you think Detroit needs a comprehensive bailout plan just like Obamacare right? Yeahm that's working out reeeeaaalll well!

    Mr. Paul is little more than Mr. G.W. Bush with a thin glaze of Libertarian Crazy baked on. Sorry, been there done that. More proof the GOP is no longer prepared to lead our nation.

    @Tampa Tim
    "Rand wants to establish economic freedom zones where federal money can be distributed to big corporations. Talk about redistribution of the wealth. Does that make him a socialist, Marxist, communist?"

    =======

    So what Rand Paul is proposing with these "economic free zones" is too tax corporations and individuals less so that it incentivizes people and companies to move there due to a lower economic cost for them to run their business. Are you saying that "federal money can be distributed to big corporations" by his proposing that the federal govt takes less money away from them? Is that your idea of redistribution? And there you have it. The liberal mindset is that wealth is redistributed by the govt taking less money in. No concept whatsoever for what 'wealth redistribution" really means. So, TT, wealth redistribution is when the govt takes money from individuals/corporations and then distributes it to other individuals/corporations. When he proposes lower tax rates, he is proposing the exact opposite of wealth redistribution.

    Like his father, let him go and taste how it looks like by running for President. It is in the Family, they are not good in calculating. His father tried twice, he might do it may be 5 times.
