Three African-American members of Congress are part of a civil rights coalition claiming they were deliberately kept out of the process for filling vacancies on two Atlanta-based federal courts.

Obama signs up for Obamacare

(CNN) - President Barack Obama is signed up for an insurance plan through the law that bears his name, the White House said Monday, although the coverage is symbolic.

A White House official told CNN that Obama was enrolled over the weekend through an online insurance exchange created by the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.

Utah judge denies stay on same-sex marriages

(CNN) - U.S. District Court Judge Robert J. Shelby in Utah has denied the state's request for a stay on his ruling that Utah's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, according to Mary Jane McNamee, Judge Shelby's courtroom deputy.

He held a hearing on the matter on Monday. McNamee tells CNN the judge will issue a written ruling later today. Shelby struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage last Friday.

Pelosi: Obamacare fallout will be reversed, won't hurt Democrats

(CNN) - The top Democrat in the House predicted that any political fallout from the new healthcare law will be reversed within months.

"By the time we get into the spring, I think the Affordable Care Act will either be a wash or a plus for Democrats," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Monday on a conference call.

Obamacare deadline extended by one day

Updated 1:25 p.m. ET, 12/23/2013

New York (CNNMoney) - The deadline for signing up for Obamacare has been effectively extended by another day, the Obama administration said Monday.

The deadline had been Monday, Dec. 23 for people who want coverage by Jan. 1. People can now sign up through Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Rand Paul celebrates 'Festivus,' tweeting grievances with Washington

(CNN) - Apparently, Sen. Rand Paul is a fan of the famed sitcom "Seinfeld" and unsurprisingly, not a fan of Washington.

The Kentucky Republican took to Twitter on Monday to partake in "Festivus," a quirky holiday-esqe tradition popularized in a 1997 episode of the show that is “celebrated” on December 23 and calls for, among other things, the airing of grievances.

CNN Poll: Health care law support drops to all-time low

Washington (CNN) - Support for the country's new health care law has dropped to a record low, according to a new national poll.

And a CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that most Americans predict that the Affordable Care Act will actually result in higher prices for their own medical care.
