(CNN) – Like many Americans, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley chose to share what she got for Christmas via social media.
Santa’s gift for the first-term Republican? A semi-automatic pistol.
“Our family had a wonderful Christmas together! I must have been good. Santa gave me a Beretta PX4 Storm,” Haley said in an Instagram post that included a photo of the weapon.
Haley has an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association, and hasn’t been shy about her fondness for guns in the past, including by test-firing a fully automatic machine gun at a state firearms manufacturer over the summer. Her husband is a member of the Army National Guard.
Haley announced over the summer that she is seeking a second term in her conservative, GOP-leaning state.
Sweet, I wish I had gotten one too.

Sounds like someone can't appreciate the Christmas season. Rather than enjoying it for the reason of the season, you like to demean people with big old words. Great JOB!
Good for her! She's setting an example to all women that it's OK to have a firearm for self-defense like our Founding Fathers intended. The benefits of gun ownership far outweigh the detriments but you never hear about that.
Seriously people! Can't we just enjoy the season rather than demeaning each other. A few of you need to learn to live lives that are joyful and fulfilled rather than becoming so bitter and evil. If we can't enjoy Christmas, no matter what party we are in, maybe we are all headed to a place where Christmas means nothing!
Smart and practical. Way to go Nikki!
Santa needs better taste in pistols.
Apparently Santa or Haley or both enjoy some of the finer things in life. Now if only he would have brought some ammo!
I would have thought a pistol Made in the USA would have been more appropriate. Mine are.
Great, she got another gun to add to her collection of 8 guns she already has...
...maybe he should have gotten her a vacation at the Creation Museum instead...
The reason it is news is because you cannot buy a gun for someone else. It is a straw purchase.
Berreta is made in Maryland.
I guess American made guns aren't good enough for her.
The rules on any gun related article online: No comments allowed unless you're gun nutz. Only then can you rant about X specific gun vs XX specific gun's firing capabilities, the many dozens of guns you own, firing power on XX gun, how X gun is such a 'fine weapon', gunz gunz gotta have more more more more gunz, that obama's gonna take mah gunz, blah blah blah. It's a gun nutz thing. Apparently the rest of the population wouldn't 'understand'.
SANTA knows a good firearm. I have the same gun. HO HO HO
Damn CNN, you really hate guns don't you?
You better not SHOUT you better not CRY
you better be GOOD I'm telling you why
SANTA'S got a GUN
She forgot to mention the religious side...the Vatican owns the company so shes now bra to the pope no less..doing gods work if she should shoot some black kid wearing a hoodie now...almost like having murder condoned by the catholic church...Doing God's work, one round at a time!
holy crap she is how old? And this is her first? That is so sad. OH boy had some bad years in there. Well better late than never.
Congratulations on providing the governor with press coverage, I'm sure that was the intent.
I think the anti gun crowd might be better served posting on actual crime stories, instead of bs political show and tell.
Good For Her!!!!
This means we don't have to pay for a Secret Service detail for her, right? She's got it covered?
Good for her. I'd prefer a revolver myself. To all the gun control cowards in here. Who are you to judge anyone for anything. Her owning a firearm in no way impacts your life. My owning a firearm in no way impacts your life. If she wants to carry a firearm, it is her right. If you don't want to carry a firearm and be a willing victim, that is your right.
True, this country is getting screwed, by one Republican at a time
Good ole St. Nick. Always seems to know just what we want for Christmas. Hope the Gov. enjoys her new gun and uses it safely. Hope she has better luck finding ammo than I've had.
Nice pistol, but a little big and heavy to carry concealed.
