Poll: Many Americans feel economy isn't improving

New York (CNNMoney) - Despite a recent string of positive economic news, Americans say they aren't feeling the improvements.

A new CNN/ORC poll released Friday showed people were pessimistic that the economy was improving. Nearly 70% said the economy is generally in poor shape, and only 32% rated it good.

Dow when Obama took office was just below 8,000. Now it's above 16,000. Economic growth when Obama took office was at -5.2%. Now it's at 4.1%. Unemployment was at 7.9% in 2009 and now it's at 7.0%. Numbers don't lie. As far as people feeling the effects of the economy in their personal lives, well if you have any type of investment account, you're doing just fine. The underlying problem is jobs and why the Congress won't pass a jobs bill.

Other than right wingnuts who are in denial, there appears to be a lot of uninformed people out there. The market went to a new high based on theprojected growth and rosy economic forecast. Fortunately it was a CNN poll, . . .

I remember in 2010 - the repubs said they would focus like a laser on jobs jobs jobs.

Not so much. They added ridiculous amendments to every jobs bill put forth (soc. sec. cuts or abortion, usually).

THEIR jobs is all they have worked on, if you can call 113 days a year "work". Fire every one of them in the House.

If I read it correctly, the economic growth in the last year of the previous occupant of the White House was negative 5.4, and this next year is projected to be positive 4.1. For those who don't know, negative is bad, positive is good.

Yes, it is improving. GOP bickering needs to stop. These GOP guys idea is to grab power, send you to war with Iran, loot this nation, show one side rich the other side too many poor. They want you have Guns, not Healthcare, nor Education.

Bills and taxes keep going up and the only jobs created are part-time or seasonal jobs. People are barely making it and the dems answer is to get on welfare. How about cutting taxes, stop all the regulations, get rid of a failed healthcare law, cutting international aid, higher taxes for imported goods, higher taxes on cigs and alcohol.

    They would be entirely correct.

The regime wants us to THINK the economy is improving........but the fact is.......it is NOT!

Only the hand outs being given to so many people, have allowed the regime to create the illusion of improvement, when in fact, there has been no real improvement. Indeed, the big push for fast food huge jumps in wage rates under minimum wage........is because those fast food jobs have been the ONLY real jobs gains in America for the past 5 yrs. ,,,,,,and NOT because those increases in minimum wage make any real sense.

The economy stopped improving when the Tea Party rolled into the Congress. Monthly jobs growth has pretty much stalled ever since they came to town.

Because no one is feeling like they have enough money to cover more than the bare minimum of expenses. If corporations would invest in new training programs here and build all their manufacturing as well as new R&D facilities here, there would be a whole lot more optimism about the economy. These CEOs, COOs, and others at the top of the corporate ladder are too concerned about profit and not what they should be doing as people to help their fellow human that lives in town or down the street.

Statistics don't lie: The Market is at record highs; home values are back; 15 million cars sold; unemployment below 2009 levels; virtually zero inflation; steady 4 years of economic growth. The amazing thing is that it happened with the GOP either doing nothing, or trying to crash the economy as they did in October with their vote to default on U.S. held loans.

Imagine where America might be if the GOP put energy into building the middle class (instead of just the 1%), or if they ever passed a jobs bill, or an economic stimulus bill; or if they actually cared about the poor- or passed a decent minimum wage, or equal pay act.

    I hope voters remember the GOP's anti-American acts in 2014 and 2016.

Only the top 10 percent wealthiest Americans feel good about the economy. It doesn't say much about Republican Tea Party trickle down economics. A majority of Americans are not seeing any crumbs falling down to them.
