Administration, allies to push Obamacare success stories

(CNN) - As the new year rolls in this week and people who signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act start seeing the effects of their coverage, the Obama administration will be plucking out the success stories for the limelight.

The goal is to demonstrate what officials have been saying all along: Once people start using their new insurance plans, they'll view Obamacare in a more favorable light.

Rogers on Benghazi: This should not be a 'partisan issue'

(CNN) – Republicans are not baseless when they argue that al Qaeda was connected to the 2012 attack on a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday. Those claims are rooted in intelligence gathering – not pulled out of thin air to advance a Republican storyline, he told CNN.

His comments come in response to a New York Times article that states al Qaeda had no role in the assault, countering a narrative that the Times' says has been pushed primarily by Republicans as investigations unfold.

Lawmakers react to new Benghazi report

(CNN) – A top Republican and Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee took issue Sunday with a report from The New York Times that states al Qaeda was not involved in the deadly 2012 attack against a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya.

The Times' investigation "turned up no evidence that Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups had any role in the assault," according to the report. "The attack was led, instead, by fighters who had benefited directly from NATO's extensive air power and logistics support during the uprising against Colonel Qaddafi."

CNN panel on 2014: Year ahead largely defined by year behind

Washington (CNN) – A CNN panel of political commentators see little chance for a grand bargain on the federal budget in 2014 but have some confidence for a deal on immigration reform.

"Maybe" was a common response on immigration reform's chances from a panel that aired Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," comprised of CNN “Crossfire” co-host S.E. Cupp, Democratic strategist Donna Brazile, Republican strategist Ana Navarro and Center for American Progress president & CEO Neera Tanden.

The year ahead will be largely defined by the year behind, the panel agreed, focusing primarily on the reception of Obamacare and lessons learned from the partial government shutdown in October.

Washington (CNN) - For President Barack Obama and Congress, 2014 will be the year of the blame game.
