Washington (CNN) - More than two million people will have health insurance under Obamacare at the start of 2014, the Department of Health and Human Services said on Tuesday.
The figure made public in a department statement includes people who have signed up through federal and state marketplaces set up under the politically charged health care reforms championed by President Barack Obama.

Why aren't the people who are now covered due to the Medicaid expansion accounted for? Can someone in the MSM answer that question please?
Out of that number.......how many were placed into Medicaid.........a welfare program?????
The reports are, that the majority of those who signed up, were NOT paying their own insurance bills.
I was expecting more.....
2 million down. 310 million left to go. can you say train wreck.
I think the two biggest issues for the success of the GOP will revolve around two or three elements:
1. Will the GOP shutdown the government again, or otherwise try overtly to slow or stall the recovery?
2. Will the GOP's primary battles bring out ever more wacky candidates from the even more extreme Right, or will the moderates prevail?
3. Now that the ACA seems to be sailing along, and membership/enrollment on track, does the GOP have any real advantage over the Democrats (or will they simply manufacture ever more inane faux controversies)?
Obviously, if the GOP actually does outreach to women and minorities that is successful and meaningful, or they manage to further subvert voting by citizens in state's they control all bets are off- they could clearly win back seats. It will be hard for them to not go Phil Robertson (Duck Dynasty) on America though, I'll bet.
Republicans are on the wrong side of history again. In spite of the Kochs and their cronies spending over one billion dollars to encourage people to break the law, sign ups continue. People are moving past the Limbaugh and Hannity misinformation, and when the red state governors are defeated in 2014, the ACA will even be better.
Is the republican health care site up and running yet?
Will we ever get to a time that the GOP stops being the "stupid party?"
Good start ! A real beginning of something badly needed in this country.
275 million of us were allowed to keep their own policy. I am not included in the two million, as I will stay with FL Blue until our governor is gone in 2014, and look at options then.
It looks like the GOP is losing the battle for health care. Can you say the baggers efforts are nothing more than a tricycle wreck? Move over wingnuts, you are about get run over by the Obama Express.

At a guess, I would say it's because it is the number of new, privately insured customers that will make the critical difference in the laws success or failure.
How many have paid their premium? How many are on the medicaid plan? How many healthy young adults? Im not breaking out the whine glass until something positive for the working class people.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yeah, except as of 2012 there were approximately 319 million people in the United States. Are you implying that ALL of us need to go to the website and change our plans? Is that what rightwing tv & a.m. radio tells you? No wonder you're so frightened and angry all the time.
There will be Death Panels, and all life on Earth will cease with ObamaCare.
No, I mean the web site will never work.
No, I mean the web site won't work too well.
No, I mean people won't sign up.
No, I mean more people won't sign up.
No, I mean it won't help people.
No, I mean the policies won't go through.
No, um – did I tell you about Obama's birth certificate?
@ Tampa Tim-Will we ever get to a time that the GOP stops being the "stupid party?"
No they will never learn, stupid as stupid does.
Meaningless number. We know nothing about those who enrolled, specifically age and health. Nor do we know how many have paid their premium.
@bill
So by your pretzel logic, everyone in the entire USA does not have insurance and must sign up? Sounds like you are the train wreck.
A sixth grader could do the math on this one and shake his/her head. Lefties, your luck is going to fade away on this very soon. Not gloating, just applying common sense to the situation.

Do something positive for the working class people? Name one "positive thing for the working class people" that Republicans have done in the last decade. I can. Bush gave away a tax cut/refund to the poor just before the 2004 general election.
You cant make this stuff up. When Oblundercare collapses people will be singing a different tune. @ Timmy the gop wouldn't be so dumb as to try to fit all ins in one structure. The whole idea just stinks. Why does everyone refer to it as The ACA now and not oblundercare ??? I think we all know the answer.
Chilly powder in GOP eyes.....this president is a legend.

what a hypocrite! if obamacare was as good as you are claiming it is then you'd be jumping in and signing up right now. i hear you'll save boatloads of money! as usual, the lefties won't do as they expect everybody else to do.

Freudian slip there, smith? That being said, I have to disagree – that's some mighty fine whine you've been serving these last few months!
This is what you get BCBS FOR GREED. GOP better shut up, follow the Law.
