Washington (CNN) – Correct the Record, a group created to defend potential Democratic presidential candidates, took a stand on Monday for someone other than Hillary Clinton for the first time.
The group hit back after the Republican National Committee targeted Joe Biden in an e-mail blast.

"Vice President Biden is one of the most accomplished public servants in our nation's history, with a vast list of achievements longer than most Republicans could dream of reaching," said Adrienne Elrod, the group's communications director. "Which is why the RNC's latest attack on him is just another item to add to their long list of comedy of errors."
The RNC on Monday morning put out a research brief, "A Walk Down Biden's Memory Lane," which highlights news reports of gaffes from his failed bid for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.
Correct the Record argued the release "ignores" Biden's record as Vice President.
In a short research note, it pointed to a few examples of his work in the White House, including his role in negotiating a bipartisan tax deal with Congressional leaders in 2010, as well as his role in overseeing the stimulus implementation.
Biden hasn't said whether he'll make a third bid for the presidency in 2016. Besides his 2008 campaign, he ran unsuccessfully in 1988.

While he trails far behind Clinton in polls for the 2016 Democratic nomination, a CNN/ORC International survey conducted in November indicated he would become the clear party frontrunner if Clinton chooses not to run.
Correct the Record is an arm of the Democratic super PAC, American Bridge, and has prominent Clinton backers on its staff and donor list.
Since launching last summer, the group has almost entirely focused on boosting the former Secretary of State or going after potential Republican presidential candidates, like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
