(CNN) – One day after an ex-official invoked his Fifth Amendment rights at a state legislative hearing on the New Jersey bridge scandal, CNN's Chief National Correspondent John King reports the legislative committee's chairman and staff are taking steps to subpoena Bridget Anne Kelly, a second key witness and Gov. Chris Christie's ex-deputy chief of staff.
Christie announced Thursday that he fired Kelly after recently emerged emails indicated she played a major role in the decision to shut down multiple access lanes to the George Washington Bridge as a political vendetta. The lane closures caused a massive traffic jam in Fort Lee, New Jersey, for nearly a week in September.

Chris Christie bridge scandal: a primer
The emails showed that Kelly and David Wildstein, a former Port Authority official and political appointee of Christie's, worked together to get the lanes closed. Wildstein resigned last month and appeared before the panel on Thursday under a subpoena but didn't answer any questions.
For her part, Kelly would be considered a key witness to the committee if subpoenaed and to a criminal investigation that is in its early stages.
Christie said he didn't know until Wednesday that the lane closures were a politically-motivated act of retaliation against the Fort Lee mayor, who didn't endorse Christie last year as the Governor ran for re-election.

She'll just claim the 5th and answer nothing as well. At least we get it on record though. Have fun being prosecuted. I'm sure the Koch brothers or someone will help with your defense fund though...so don't worry too much. Maybe the GOP/Teatrolls will pay Toensing and diGenova to defend you, eh? That'll be a hoot.
Funny Christie never asked her why she issued the order, or why his operative in transit authority knew what it meant. I sure would have like to know if I were him.
Fat Boy threw her under the bus. Typical Republican bully...
She will invoke her fifth as well. The Bridgegate and Bullygate saga continues.
Christie is a big bully and he has a history of doing this folks. Don't buy his 2 hour long apology.
I find it hard to believe Kelly would have directed revenge on the Serbian all by herself. But, she will be paid well for her silence and end up with a job at Fox.

In other words, Christie believed that the lane closures were the result of a traffic study, for which no data was collected, right up until the handwriting appeared on the wall. Wouldn't you think that he would have asked his staff about the veracity of the traffic study alibi when no one could produce any data that had been collected? Christie would have us believe that he did not.
twenty! nice. we are now up to 20 articles in just the ticker alone on this topic.
Tom l – Sucks doesn't it? The head of the GOP governors and leading candidate to get clobbered in the primaries has somehow become political news.
If they would just ask her if Christie knew about it, how can see take the 5th??
He knew it, and all this does is prove who the sheep really are .
Well I think its safe to say the gop is in deep doo doo, their only chance at the white house is toast, now that breaks my heart, .
Poor Bridget got thrown under the bus. At the hearing yesterday, all Mr. Weinstein said was "the same answer." Plead the 5th much?
Put a fork in him!

Thats about 20 more then the "fair and balanced" faux news reported.
Now where is that Darrel issa?
How insane is this...news goes nuts over Christy lane closing ..and Obama agenda has weaken and gutted America ....
Either christie new which means he should resign or he was so naive not to know which means he should resign as well. Not the leader any state needs even new joisey.
Chairman Darrell Issa need to call a hearing on this.
Wholly mess!! Christy...
Hey all you [R]s - I'm laughing at your continuing clown-car of a party. Another "electable" [R] bites the dust. The MSM is just doing their job reporting the facts....but its the rightwing pundits who are doing the most damage to Christie, jumping on him repeatedly while he is down....why?....too much of a RINO, too much actually getting things done, too electable......to be a favorite of the Teahaddist true believers.
I'll be happiest when your particular 'rightwing' desease progresses to the point that, in your senseless frantic partisan fervor, instead of politically destroying others in your party for not being as stupid as yourselves, you'll just pull out the gun and put the bullet in your own heads.
Boy, talk about sick political thinking!
However, some of the poster's show extreme bias in dragging in other folks who had zero to do with problem.
corrupt thinking always equals limited mental possibilities.
Example: Koch brothers., Sniffit just ""seems" to ""assume"" without any facts. Always ruins a post.
I've got a feeling she's gonna rat. Gov. Tony Soprano better whack her before she spills the beans.
If you think that FAT BLOWHARD in NJ doesn't know about this THUG POLITICS of holding up a bridge for petty votes then I got a New Jersey bridge to sell YOU!
What do I care...it's only little kids and grandma's of Chris Christie political opponent that will be affected by the bridge holdup!
where is the thread on the disastrous jobs numbers that were just reported??? oh yeah, can't talk about that as it hurts the obama lie of there being a recovery.
Dumbas[R]ocks

Now if a Republican uttered this drivel, they'd be accused of hate speech.
