Washington (CNN) - The main super PAC that supported President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election is scheduled to announce new hires Friday, as the group works towards transforming itself into a key super PAC for a possible Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign.
According to a Democratic source with knowledge of the moves by Priorities USA, the super PAC will announce that Buffy Wicks, a veteran field organizer who was a top staffer in the Obama re-election campaign, will become the group's executive director. Jonathan Mantz, an experienced Democratic fundraiser who served as national finance director for Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, will join Priorities as a senior finance adviser.
(CNN) - This may turn into much more than just a political scandal.
It may have seemed like a teenage prank at the time, but the blockage of bridge traffic as a possible act of partisan political revenge has put New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in the middle of a serious legal stew.FULL STORY
(CNN) - What a difference a day makes.
On Wednesday, Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich seemed outraged after learning that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's appointees had apparently targeted his town as part of a political vendetta, orchestrating traffic jams because he hadn't endorsed the governor.
"I'm actually rooting that the highest elected official in the state of New Jersey isn't involved in this, but I will tell you, I'm beginning to question my judgment," he said, saying that the traffic snarls caused by lane closures on the George Washington Bridge "put my town in harm's way."FULL STORY
(CNN) - New Jersey lawmakers will release 907 pages of documents Friday that could shed new light on a scandal that's forced an "embarrassed and humiliated" Gov. Chris Christie to apologize over a bit of apparent political retribution he says went no higher than his deputies.
The political star of Christie, a potential Republican presidential contender, hangs in the balance as a New Jersey state Assembly committee and the U.S. attorney's office for the District of New Jersey looks into allegations that Christie staffers orchestrated huge traffic jams on a busy interstate bridge to punish the mayor of a town that declined to endorse the governor's re-election.FULL STORY
(CNN) - While more Americans continue to identify as conservatives rather than liberals, new numbers by Gallup indicate that the percentage who label themselves themselves as liberals is at a new high.
Twenty-three percent of Americans identified themselves as liberals last year, up a percentage point from 2012 and four points over the past decade, and its the highest level since Gallup started regularly measuring ideology in the current format in 1992.
