(CNN) – President Barack Obama will on Tuesday discuss a topic he is familiar with from his childhood – American women living in economic insecurity and trying to be breadwinners and caregivers at the same time.
Raised by a single mother who was described as someone who struggled to pay the bills, Obama on Tuesday will meet with Maria Shriver, who is reporting on some 42 million women who she says live “one single incident – a doctor's bill, a late paycheck, or a broken-down car – away from economic ruin."

Shriver's latest investigation in her series from "The Shriver Report" is titled: "A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink."
The report finds that women comprise up two-thirds of the primary or co-breadwinners in American families. The average female earns 77 cents for every dollar pulled down by a man.
"The Shriver Report" lays out a series of policies objects such as a higher minimum wage, better opportunities for higher paying jobs, and improved access to professional networks.
"As the President knows well, investing in and supporting women over their lifetimes is one of the best ways to tackle income inequality and achieve greater social mobility, and he looks forward to learning about the findings of the report," White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Monday.
The more than 400-page report includes essays from experts and celebrities like Eva Longoria, Beyoncé, LeBron James, Sheryl Sandberg, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Hillary Clinton.
It is the third investigation in a series which began in 2009.
"The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Pushes Back from the Brink" is a multi-faceted campaign which includes among initiatives, a free e-book, an HBO documentary, a comprehensive poll, and an education curriculum aimed at teaching young women life skills such as financial literacy, networking, and the importance of a college education.
