(CNN) - Three days ahead of his highly-anticipated address to the nation, President Barack Obama touted a new White House initiative to curb sexual assault and other violent crimes nationwide.
The White House address Saturday mimicked remarks the President made this week while announcing a task force aimed at protecting students on college campuses from sexual assault.
"Sexual assault is an affront to our basic decency and humanity. And it's about all of us - the safety of those we love most: our moms, our wives, our daughters and our sons,” Obama said.
Obama cited a report from a White House-convened council that shows nearly one in five women, totaling 22 million, have been raped in their lifetime - and that women in college settings were at particularly high risk for sexual assault.
Beyond college campuses, Obama also vowed to continue to combat sexual assaults in the military, calling attacks within the armed forces "an injustice that no one who volunteers to protect our nation should ever endure."
Last year, Obama told top military brass they had a year to show improvement in preventing sexual assault in the armed forces.
Pushing for legislation and action to stem sexual assault and violence, the Obama said, "is a priority for me, not only as President and Commander-in-Chief, but as a husband and a father of two extraordinary girls."

Dictators are worse than an affront to OUR society.........but we have one, just the same.
Mike Huckabee urged Republicans to aggressively fight back against Democratic attempts to make female "libido" a campaign issue.

Thank you Mr. President!

So "Dictator" is your new mantra? Please continue amusing the rest of us.
It would me nice if he recognized that targeting of conservatives by the IRS, Cuomo telling conservatives to get out of his state, wisconsin democrat liberal "progressives" targeting.conservatives through thei arcane legal system was an assault on freedom. This corrupt president and his regime are not about freedom however. It may be time for those of us who are demeaned, degraded and diminished by the corrupt goveerment to go underground to fight the regime. The criminal Attorney General will have a more difficult time finding us if we form an underground resistance, like the French did against the Nazis.
Where is that $2500 the corrupt president promised I would save if the congress enacted Obozocare? My premium went up 177%.
@Rick McDaniel
That's an Obama agenda that lies to all of America.........Obama doesn't want any blacks to be held accountable for their crimes!
This is nothing but black racism, against white America.

Rick , you need help !
Rick – You are the perfect poster boy for RWNJs that are brain dead. Hatred will do that to baggers.
I'm glad the president is addressing this. I actually had a friend say to me once, with a straight face. You can push yourself on this one girl and she won't say no, you should try it. Obviously I never did and obviously he is no longer my friend. But the fact this guy had a stable family, two sisters and was a mama's boy. It always amazed me that he couldn't even understanding the meaning of the words he was saying and even worse what he was doing.

Poor Rick needs some attention today.
Government should be assuring that Government(s), Businesses, Groups, and Individuals let the people be.
Traffic laws are a good example of consequences for the inconsiderate, careless, malicious, and anti-functional.
President Obama and his loyalist have been raping the workers and providers for the excesses in the governance of the U.S.A. to feed their voting base government cake. He has no credibility because of his raping of the foundations of our society.
More smoke and mirrors to disguise and deflect from his 5 going on 6 years of abject FAILURE. There are already thousands of laws to address this problem. Or does he want to put an FBI agent in every dorm room? Heck, he's already got the NSA there!
@rick mcdaniel- Why not look up dictatorship on wiki and see what one really is. Then look up fascism and compare it to our current set of political groups and see who comes close to matching. And by the way, if we were living in a dictatorship you would have already been rounded up and sent to a gulag. Or an asylum.

Or arrested and jailed for making a video that was used in a lie and coverup, or have the IRS (as well as many other federal agencies) target you, or unilaterally declare laws unenforceable. Dictators also used these weapons as well. Do they all sound familiar? They should, because they are all Obama administration actions.

'Or arrested and jailed for making a video that was used in a lie and coverup'
Could you please rephrase that? It sure looks like you are describing a criminal behavior ('making a video that was used in a lie and coverup') with its expected consequence ('arrested and jailed').
Are you against it?
