First on CNN: Christie vacationing in Puerto Rico

Washington (CNN) - On the heels of a major winter storm that blanketed his state with snow, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie spent Friday at a resort in Puerto Rico with his family.

CNN was alerted to his whereabouts by a person who saw the governor poolside at a resort in San Juan.

Asked to confirm if Christie is in Puerto Rico, a spokesman for the governor said he is on a brief vacation with his family.

"After the storm had passed, the governor left the state this morning for a long weekend away with his family, and he will return Monday night," said spokesman Colin Reed.

In accordance with state protocol, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno is in charge of government business until Christie returns.

Democrats criticized Christie in December 2010 for not cutting short a family vacation to Disney World while a massive blizzard brought New Jersey to a standstill. Guadagno was also out of state at that time.

Why is this news? Am I supposed to care where the gov. goes for a vacation? CNN is going for the tabloid market it seems.

didn't he do this the last big snow storm in 2010? Record snow fall and he and other big wigs got out of dodge before it hit...

You mean like how Obama escapes responsibility by going on vacation every other month???

Let me get this straight: CNN reports the Governor of NJ going on vacation but ignores the story of the President always being on vacation AND the extreme waste of taxpayer funds when he extends his wife's vacation to make up for them no longer getting along? No wonder we're going in the wrong direction...

... and the Presidents golfing on the west coast while the eastern half of the country is freezing and bailing out of one snow storm after another and the west coast is drying up like a prune .Christie's team must use the same "tapes" the liberals use when the right brings up the Presidents long weekend getaways in times of trouble.

How awful, we all know the President does not take any time off in troubled times. He is working diligently all the time. How much reporting are you doing on that CNN? It seems to me this was reported on a rumor.

So he's taking a quick trip? So what? Storm passed, everything good to go. This wasn't a hurricane or a situation that killed dozens of people and damaged millions of dollars of property. Maybe you should focus more on the presidential vacations that have cost the taxpayers (including the writer of this story) hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars.

Ok, so here's a question...If all of the airports have had cancellations and delays thus requiring each airline to play catch up with all of their stranded customers, on earth then, did Christie and his family get to PR????? Or did he "borrow" another helicopter from the State Police? My my my, Chris Christie sure doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "lay low" does he. I can see Monday's headlines now.."Christie vacations in the sun while millions battle cold and layers of snow".

Well, you have been under a lot of stress lately, so have a good time. Maybe your head will clear, and you will be ready to do the right thing by your state. No more lies, okay?

So it's OK for Obama to fly to Off to play golf this week but not OK for the Gov. To be with his family. Obama is taking 22 of his closest male friends to golf.

Vacationing? Where does Christie get off doing something that Obama does every other week? The nerve of the peasantry.

The good folks of New Jersey must feel good knowing Christie truly does have their best interest in mind.

I hate to say it, but I voted for this incompetent bully. When things are going well he is in your face and when things go bad he gets out of town. He should be here as governor of NJ to make sure the people of NJ are being taken care after these snow storms we have had. It seems the only thing he is concerned is himself.
