(CNN) - Former President-turned-painter George W. Bush will feature his work in an art exhibit starting this April, unveiling more than two dozen portraits that have never been made public.
The exhibit, "The Art of Leadership: A President's Personal Diplomacy," will feature his paintings, as well as artifacts, photographs, and personal reflections about his relationships made on the world stage, according to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas, which is hosting the exhibit.

After leaving office in 2009, the 43rd President took up painting as a hobby and hired an instructor, telling his teacher: "There's a Rembrandt trapped in this body. Your job is to find it."
In November, he unveiled one of his portraits–a large painting of comedian Jay Leno–during an appearance on "The Tonight Show."
"I do take painting seriously, it's changed my life," he said.
Bush likes to paint landscapes, dogs, and the classic fruit-in-a-bowl, as revealed when the Bush family's email accounts were hacked last year.
At Bush's presidential library opening last April, former President Bill Clinton teased his successor about paintings found in the emails that appear to have been created in the bathroom.
"Those bathroom sketches were wonderful, but at my age, I think I should keep my suit," Clinton joked.
Bush told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that the hobby helps him relax and see colors in a new light.
"I am, I guess, tapping a part of the brain that, you know, certainly never used when I was a teenager. And I get the satisfaction out of completing a project," he said, adding that he loves to paint people's pets and give the paintings as gifts.
"And I readily concede the signature is more valuable than the painting," he joked.

If Al Gore had been declared the winner of Fla. in 2000, the REAL 9-11 Attack would not have happened, Afghanistan wouldn't have happened, Iraq , THE Great Recession, the Fed Deficit, maybe even the Blue State/Red State Divide. If only...
Just like Hitler who also wanted to be an artist or Castro who wanted to be a pitcher for the Yankees. We now have our home grown "artist".
How many lives have been lost because of these three?
HE Has a gift from G0D ! He and his dad are hero's .
I wonder if this collection will include the landscape he painted of his view from his post at Ellington AFB while he served in the Texas Air National Guard during Vietnam...
Some of these comments if were directed at President Obama would be labeled as racist or disgraceful remarks by the left..
As usual democrats will attack anyone with a difference of opinion as they always do.
Breaking News ! Ted N baited the dims like animals ! And He sent the meat to charity ! CLaim meat was T0xic

Evidently a couple of the usual suspects didn't bother reading the posts on this thread before bashing democrats as they themselves are the only ones attacking those with a difference of opinion – the way they ALWAYS do.
@Marie
Congrats for equating the President of the United States with a person responsible for murdering 10 million people. Way to marginalize the deaths of so many people so you can try to score a political point. Shameful. Disgusting. You have no class and your ignorance of history is very telling.
At least he did not bad mouth this current president as he promised.

Have you been asleep for 5 years? As for attacks, ever hear of the house attacking women's rights, their $24 billion shutdown of government, 47 attempts at repealing the ACA, their attempts to make our president a one termer, our credit downgrade. Those are not opinions, they are facts.
Chris E – Ever check out Tora Bora?
@smith and his minions, if it's true then it's okay to bash. Lies and innuendos being considered the truth by faux news and the oxyaddict radio boy it's not the same,
This guy sent thousands to their deaths and lied about WMDs to start a war his daddy couldn't do himself.
He now visits hospitals to see the wounded who are there because of him and that other war criminal Cheney.
I think considering the destruction his administration cause calling him the village idiot is the least we can do, because he IS.

I'm proud of you Timmy Boy. You left out TARP and the 2008 job losses and that's a step in the right direction. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. As far as your claims, you're right repubs have attacked the president and tried to make him a one termer. Are you so naïve as not to understand that dems did the exact same thing to Bush? Pelosi calls Bush a total failure. Reid calls him a loser and a liar. All liberals, especially the ones on here, will still try to diminish Bush saying he was actually never elected. Many people (not you) like that repubs have tried to repeal the ACA; or at least delay it (or do you want to argue with the fact that 87% of the 85% of Americans with insurance were happy with their healthcare before the ACA?) Perhaps one day you will realize that your gang is no better than the repub gang. They're just both gangs. Until then, carry on....
Tom l – Did you ever find out what TARP was all about, and who signed the bill in 2008?

Too bad the current President didn't return the favor. A very low/no class person in the White House right now.
@Malory-Notice the use of the word "some".
@Marie-Just pointing out your double standard.
He is still mindless and a lousy painter!
@Sonny-Maybe things would have been worse with Gore as potus. Btw, Billy and Gore did a great stopping the first trade center attack, Oklahoma city bombing, Waco, Cole bombing, and etc.
For God's sake, this is about an exhibit of paintings by President Bush, not a demand for a subpoena. It would be nice if people bothered to leave their ugly partisan hats at the door on this one.

This is an extremely weak argument and it not supported by ANY facts, first you don't know any of this would not have happened or would have happened, plain and simple, NO ONE can predict what would have happened. Second, the 9/11 attack was actually planed primarily while Clinton was in office so Clinton was not able to stop the training and planning so what in the world makes you think someone as useless as Gore could have done anything about it.
Last, the great recession would have happened even if Clinton would have had a third term, in other words, it would have happened no matter who was in office! The cause of it came from YEARS, about 20 years of bad policy, I did a large term paper on the causes of the great recession a little over a year ago and all research I did according to peer reviewed journals, points to YEARS of bad policies. One of the main contributors was the housing policies Clinton passed when he was in office, it contributed to the housing bubble which has been widely accepted as the main cause in the academic world. But it wasn't just policies from Clinton, policies all the way back to Reagan can be traced to the house bubble as well. NEITHER party is innocent, but Bush actually had little to do with the recession, he was just the unlucky president that was in office, could have been any candidate, it still would have happened. The only think that could have contributed to it was the tax cuts but that is debatable and not supported by much research as of a year or so ago. (could be different now, I have not research any studies that were done in the past year) People like you just don't like to look at FACTS that are supported by peer reviewed journals, you simply repeat all the liberal talking points and think they are facts, in reality, they are FAR from fact!!
Tom l – Did you ever find out what TARP was all about, and who signed the bill in 2008?

Yes, and I responded before in full agreement that the Troubled Asset Relief Program was signed by George Bush – something I was vehemently against. You also appear to be against that since you keep talking about how that is one of the dastardly republican issues that you bring up. So....for consistency I find it ironic that you would mention TARP as a bad thing when Obama (illegally) used TARP to bail out the auto industry. So, I will ask again, did you ever find out how Obama "saved" the auto industry in Detroit?
Me – The bill Bush signed in 2002 to make owning a house available to everyone had nothing to do with the collapse in 2007?

There you go again with that lie about Harry Reid again, tom. Pelosi called Bush a loser, and Reid was correct when he said that Bush had lied to the people of Nevada when he promised not to place a nuclear waste dump in Nevada. Bush reneged on his promise before the presidential vote was official, before Thanksgiving 2004. I want to say in less than week.
You need to stop blaming Pres. Obama for TARP. You're sounding like a who's kid fresh out of college again.
