Washington (CNN) – The Chamber of Commerce, which is vowing to be more aggressive this election year, is planning to buy more ads in next month's contentious special election in Florida, a source familiar with the Chamber's activities told CNN.
In a couple of days, the Chamber will air new ads with a message of checks and balances on behalf of Republican Dave Jolly. Jolly is facing Democrat Alex Sink, Florida's former chief financial officer and the 2010 Democratic gubernatorial nominee, in the March 11th election to fill the remainder of the term of Rep. Bill Young, who died last October.

The new buy will bring the Chamber's spending to over the $1 million mark in this campaign, the source said. The Chamber and other Republican-leaning groups believe the election for the district, which is considered a swing one in the western part of the state in Pinellas County, is going to be competitive because of Obamacare. Republicans also will be using Nancy Pelosi's leadership of the House Democrats, which is still believed to be a powerful issue.
Earlier this month the Chamber unveiled an ad featuring former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in which he endorsed Jolly.
"Dave's the best candidate to go to Congress, fight wasteful spending and help create good jobs…with all of the dysfunction in Washington, your next congressman needs to know how to get things done,” Bush says in the ad.
Republicans have held the seat for more than 40 years, but Democrats are hopeful they can win this election because President Barack Obama captured the district in both of his elections.
The parties and outside groups are spending heavily in this campaign because both sides believe the outcome could be a barometer of what may occur in November's mid-terms.
If Sink, who previously was believed to be the frontrunner loses, it could be seen as a signal of Obamacare hurting Democrats in the midterms and help energize Republicans.
However if Sink wins, then Democrats will feel some momentum although many experts doubt they will be able to regain control of the House.
CNN Senior Producer Kevin Bohn contributed to this story.

The republican message never changes: cut wasteful spending, create good jobs, and repeal ACA. What a sorry excuse for 'a no idea what we are doing' Republican Party.
The Chamber of Commerce in a race with the NRA, and Koch Bros. to see who can destroy the country first. I now shop no where that bears the member of the Chamber of Commerce sign, and I let the owners of said business know why. If more start doing this maybe the backlash of dropped memberships would have an effect. Sure made alot of radio stations drop Rush. If you want to hurt these people, hit them in the wallet, and demand Execs be fired.
Vote strait Republican FL. IF YOU want to keep what you got an grow even better . thx
The dems are going to take Florida blue. After all, they are running AGAINEST Rick Scott , the GOP teaparty CLOWN yaho,, the other teaparty CLOWN Rubio who only represents the teaparty, the Cubans and the Koch brothers who are a prime example of why to raise taxes on billionaires. If they can dump hundreds of millions on losing GOP canadates down the tiolet, they can afford to PAY hundreds of millions more in taxes!!!! The Koch bros give billionaires a bad name and are still living off their daddy's money. Get a real job not one you make up for yourself!!!!!
The Chamber of Commerce, which is vowing to be more aggressive this election year still believes climate change dose not exist .
How will the Chamber's marketing campaign change with a fourth of Florida under water ?
Florida need to elect a dem, it will be one less obstructionist left to obstruct against rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. i hope the repubs dont start talking about reducing the deficit, because they have obstruct every plan the dems come up with that the cbo said would reduce our deficit, so the politics of finding excuses not to get something done, should be over with.
This is sad that money can influence an election. We need a more informed electorate and more people voting. It is a sad fact that we have so few people voting. I would hope that in the future we can have a smaller amount of money involved elections.
I believe as some other local elections have recently gone democrat that this one will as well..... and I also believe its barometer, and will prove that senate seats perceived as at risk are not so risky after all.

It's time to boot out republicans from Florida!! The governor is so corrupt that Florida economy has not advanced one bit since he got elected!
Let's face it Florida needs more than money to open up the minds of its citizens who voted, in a state where the senior population is quite large, for a governor who stole from their Medicare and I guess his own money kept him from jail.
Then there's the hanging chads and the shrub stealing the election with the help of the SCOTUS and 2008 and, oh heck, Florida is mess.
The debt ceiling was just the start. Can't wait to see the GOBP stuff Jeb Bush down the tea potty's throats 2012 Mitt the twit style.
Florida, if you care America, just vote straight Democratic ticket. GOP is so Vicious. God bless!!!!!!!!
