Political Circus: Rogen gets the last word

Actor Seth Rogen was on Capitol Hill to testify before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Alzheimer's research. He got a laugh with the requisite "House of Cards" reference.

But he later took to Twitter to blast what he thought was a poor showing from the committee on his testimony.

His place in history

The moment was not lost on Sen. Tom Harkin, who was at the hearing.

Rogen apparently appreciated the senator's humor. ABC later asked Rogen who he'd most likely get high with and he replied, "That Harkin guy seemed pretty cool. I’d go with him."

So it's a medley then

Appearing with former President Bill Clinton at a rally in Kentucky, Alison Lundergan Grimes, who's running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, was trying to wind up the crowd with her campaign's theme song:  A little Neil Diamond's "Kentucky Woman," a little Katy Perry's "Roar," and bring the house down with a little "Wrecking Ball."

Probably should have stopped at Katy Perry — could  have avoided the questionable reference and having the biggest takeaway from your speech being that you didn't know Miley Cyrus was born in Tennessee.

Was that an endorsement?

We'll cut new Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson a little slack — big congressional hearing in the new job and everything, he was probably a little nervous. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Georgia, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, who has probably seen a few flustered witnesses before, pounced on Johnson's stumble.

Meyers solves big Washington mystery

Joe Biden revealed on Seth Meyers' debut this week the secret that had Washington buzzing after President Obama's State of the Union address last month: Who was Biden's mad gestures directed at?

“A senior senator said, ‘Look Joe I know you and Barack are friends but don’t stand up on every damn thing he says,’” Biden told Meyers. “I counted 17 times this particular senator stood up in front of the president. So I went like this to point to him. Talk about a suck up.”

We thought it was more fun when we were guessing.

    Political Circus = Comedic failure.

Time to put this one on the shelf CNN.
