Washington (CNN) - At the Republican National Convention in 2012, Mitt Romney's campaign featured a series of touching, biographical videos that showed a more personal side to the former Massachusetts governor.
But it was too late. By that point, just a little more than two months before Election Day, Democrats had spent millions trying to define Romney as a greedy, heartless politician.

Supporters and pundits argued the GOP presidential hopeful should have showed those videos earlier in the cycle, humanizing him before Democrats had a chance to shape their own image of the candidate.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, a group that aims to elect Republicans to the Senate, is trying to avoid making the same mistake.
Just under eight months before the midterms, the group on Wednesday released a 45-minute documentary featuring six GOP candidates in races where Republicans hope to make gains and ultimately retake control of the Senate.
Officials from the group said the video was produced in-house by NRSC staff and will be featured at house parties, as well as online.
Split up into six biographical videos, the video includes interviews with the Senate candidates, as well as with their friends and families.
Three of the Senate candidates–Reps. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Steve Daines of Montana, and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana–are challenging incumbent Democrats.
The other three–former Gov. Mike Rounds of South Dakota, former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, and Rep. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia–are running in open races.
All six contests are considered toss-ups or potential pick-ups for Republicans.
Most of the candidates are considered the likely Republican nominees in their respective states, though some are running in more crowded primaries than others. Cassidy in Louisiana, for example, faces two other primary opponents.
While the NRSC doesn't get involved in Republican primaries, spokesman Brad Dayspring said they featured Cassidy because he attended their "candidate training" session.
Dayspring added they can't take sides, but "we can tell the stories of good candidates and put them out there."
The NRSC plans on featuring more candidates in another wave of videos this year.

I wish I had the luxury of sitting around all day saying "baggers and wingnuts", but alas, I am gainfully employed. Sigh...
Somebody needs to tell the GOI (grand old idiots) that talking is not going to cut it anymore. They need to show the american people what exactly they have done the last 5 years. Nothing besides gutting voting rights, restricting rights for women, trying their hardest to get rid of the ACA. They talke about jobs, nothing proposed, they talk about better health care, nothing proposed. So why are people voting for this useless party??
Seen lands ad, complete BS, from start to finish. Still amazed at how gullible some are
When in doubt, show home movies !

Don't sell Romney short! He did an excellent job of that (47%) all by himself.
This is why big money needs to get out of elections.

Seriously? Mitt lost because he didn't first "humanize" himself before whatever it is this article is trying to spit out as the cause of Mitt losing, it is coming across as nothing more than RNC talking point dribble.

An ability to multitask is a sign of a mature individual: I take it you have a ways to go?
"But it was too late."
Yes, well ... if you have to "humanize" yourself to begin with, chances are you've already reached the "too late" stage in politics.
This ain't the way American Democracy was presented in my Grade School Civics Class. At the time, we were fighting the "God-Less Commies" in the Cold War.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Hillary Clinton say is was time to tone down the rhetoric while moments earlier saying Putin was Hitler?"
Fine, I'll correct you; No, she did not. If you bothered to read/hear what she was actually saying and understood the point she was trying to make, she correctly pointed out that Putin is using a similar justification for invading Ukraine as Hitler used for invading nearby countries in Europe, and she was pointing it out to explain why some people are acting so alarmed by Putin's behavior and why it's sending up giant red flags...not because she was "saying Putin was Hitler". She then followed up by stressing that despite that similarity, the best approach is for everyone to act calmly, not ratchet up the rhetoric and act like everything has suddenly reached critical mass and requires immediate hostile and heavy-handed responses. Deliberately misinterpreting what she said and the points she was making is dishonest and superficial, and it shows two things: (1) just how willing he conservatives are to twist the truth to smear her, because they're terrified of her for 2016 and (2) just how pathetic and self-serving the MSM's reporting on these kinds of things are, because they deliberately take everything out of context and serve you those misinterpretations on a silver platter in order to hype nontroversy and feed the partisanship that helps them sensationalize everything for ad revenue.

Seriously. It's much like when the GOP/Teatrolls held seminars for how to talk about women's issues without making mistakes like "legitimate r-pe" etc. It fits right into the category of "if you needed to be told in the first place...."
President Romney is very confused by the angle this article takes in the first few paragraphs.
CATX @.well said do it again they zap mine .
CATX – Sorry, since I am gainfully employed, I was not able to respond to you earlier. As for baggers, Birthers, bigots, and wingnuts, that is the party you cling to.
CATX- Maybe you could get a phone.
The only way a repub/tea bag will ever get elected to national office is if they never open their mouths and speak.
And since they've all been flapping their lips for years now (and half the time taking it back because they "misspoke," were "misunderstood" or were "sorry" they offended anyone), chances are they won't make it.
The only thing in the way of the truth is if Citizens United continues unabated with its unaccountable, anonymous money and the Internet gets taken over by the likes of NewsCorp who want to shut down access to information (and not just their propaganda).
See why it's so important to vote, folks? Why it's so important to stay engaged? The GOP is counting on you being disillusioned with government and feeling powerless in the face of the monied interests.
Remember to vote on November 4, 2014! Get out there and be heard!

I'm so sorry that this has hit closer to home for both of you and I really wasn't making light of the actions whatsoever

We know that tom.
Thank you and no worries babe.
Well the dems have done so well with creating jobs, Odumbo care, keeping the us safe, ben ghazi, IRS, fast and furious. At this point if you vote dem you are really showing how slow you are.
GOP is pretty much dead, defunct. Just know this no fool backs them up.
It doesn't help to have an attractive candidate when the message is the same old conservative ideology and policies. The GOP will be preaching to the choir again and not to majority of voters who are in the middle of political spectrum.

And yet, here you are, posting. Ever occur to you that there are plenty of us who are gainfully employed who post on our breaks, in the morning, in the evening, on the weekend?
You're a typical RWNJ who can't win on facts so you say silly things instead.

It wouldn't have mattered if Mitt had gone around and introduced himself to every voter in America: he was stiff, out of touch (who else has multiple houses, one of which is equipped with a car elevator?), was born on third base but thought he'd hit a triple, and believes in money uber alles.
Mitt lost because of Mitt – and because he had nothing to offer our country except the same, old, tired, FAILED gop policies.
