Congressman will not face charges in domestic incident

(CNN) – U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida will not be charged in a domestic incident with his wife, according to his office.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department made that decision on Friday, Lauren Doney, a spokeswoman for the Florida Democrat, said in a statement.

“We are relieved that this ridiculous ordeal is over,” Doney said, noting in the statement that Grayson had done nothing wrong.

The Orlando Sentinel reported Tuesday that a judge granted a temporary protective injunction against Grayson after his wife, Lolita, filed a complaint, saying he shoved and injured her over the weekend.

But Grayson's office said witnesses who saw the incident "also reject Ms. Grayson's version of events."

Lolita Grayson, who's been married to Alan Grayson for almost 24 years, filed for divorce less than two months ago, according to the Sentinel.

Rep. Grayson, who's known for making controversial statements in the past, was first elected to Congress in 2008 but lost his 2010 re-election bid.

He ran again in 2012 and won.

CNN's Deirdre Walsh, Ashley Killough and Dana Davidsen contributed to this report.

CNN needs to do a little more reporting on this story. It leaves a lot of holes. Why would a judge issue a restraining order if there was not some type of threat? Or is the restraining order a standard precaution to avoid a potential threat? Also, what were the other versions from witnesses? CNN does not need to make this a five month investigation. Get the facts and publish the whole story in one article.

Anybody that has seen or heard this guy knows he has anger or mental issues. It is a very sad statement that people would vote for him and put him in office. Of course, Democrats have a very low threshold concerning who they vote for. See,s like the nuttier they are, the more votes they get.

Grayson is on the few that is working for Americans and not moneyed interest. He is the opposite side of Cruz. Of course we will never hear from him on the political talk show circus because he tells the truth. There are very few in Washington working for the American People. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Grayson, Frankel and I forget the other ones name but are very very few that are actually working for the American People. He is one of the few that will give you a straight answer. We need more people like him in Congress that will do their job and make our Country better instead of doing Corporate America's bidding.

CNN hid the fact that he is a Democrat in the second sentence. I guess that is deeper than most of the idiots on this site read. How dare CNN not plaster it across his forehead so the challenged extremist repubs on this site would see it!

I'm sure you are referring to GOP stalwarts Ted "Coo Coo" Cruz, Ayn Rand Paul, Shelly Bachmann, Sarah "Half Governor" Palin, Rick "Google" Santorum, Rick "Oops" Perry, etc...

Grayson's public behavior is that of an angry loud-mouth bully. His behavior out of public view is likely to be much worse. He needs adult supervision.

Alan Grayson is a loud-mouthed bufoon..........using his office to stop this investigation. Why would a restraining order be issued to begin with if there wasn't some bases for it??? Grayson is dead set against the American Middle Class and everything that is great about our country. But that is not the issue........a U.S. Congressperson assaulting his wife and then having it swept under the rug simply because he is a sitting Congressperson!!!

exhaustartist, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Grayson, Frankel, do you mean Al Franken who won by 800 fraudulent votes. Warren who claimed to be of American Indian decent because she is from Oklahoma, and Sanders who claims to be a independent who has ALWAYS voted as the democrats told him too.
