Ben Carson: The U.S. is like 'Nazi Germany'

(CNN) - Ben Carson, a renowned neurosurgeon and a popular figure among conservatives, compared the United States to the Third Reich in an interview.

Asked to elaborate on his previous comments about the U.S. living in "a Gestapo age," the conservative firebrand argued the country has become "very much like Nazi Germany."

"I know you're not supposed to say Nazi Germany, but I don't care about political correctness," he said in an interview Monday with the conservative news outlet Breitbart.

His comments came at the New York Meeting, a gathering of conservative politicians, journalists and business leaders.

Carson, who came in third in the GOP presidential nomination straw poll at last week's Conservative Political Action Conference, has been a fierce critic of the administration on the IRS controversy. The tax agency admitted last year to scrutinizing conservative political groups, though it maintains the error was not done out of political bias.

"You had the government using its tools to intimidate the population," Carson said. "We now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe."

The neurosurgeon gained political fame after he publicly criticized some of President Barack Obama's policies in front of the President at last year's National Prayer Breakfast.

He quickly became a GOP star and was sometimes mentioned as a potential presidential candidate.

But he lost some of that star power after making controversial comments last year. In one instance he compared the federal health care law to "slavery."

And he sparked strong backlash when he equated homosexuality with pedophilia and bestiality during a television interview about same-sex marriage. Facing loud opposition, he apologized and withdrew from speaking gigs at Johns Hopkins medical school and an event for the American Academy of Physicians Assistants.

As proven by last week's straw poll results at CPAC, however, Carson still has support among the conservative wing of the base.

In the interview Monday, Carson said people are afraid to speak "because of the PC police," and he blamed politicians as well as the news media.

"All of these things are combining to stifle people's conversations," he said.

He argued that if people "are afraid to talk," they'll never reach consensus and they'll grow further apart. "That's exactly what's happening, creating a horrible schism that will destroy our nation if we don't fix it."

Asked if he was interested in a White House bid, Carson said "I wouldn't mind going as a visitor."

Typical right wing propaganda. Take their views and project them onto your opponent and hope the public is to stupid to see what your are doing. The Republican Party and the Tea party promote hate, intolerance, bigotry, torture, spying on citizens, illegal wire taps, spy drones over our country and one of my favorites from these "moral Christians" – the tried to pass HB 3 – a bill specifically designed and worded to re-dine rape and make it legal. The are right about one thing – there is a war on women and they are the attackers.

So basically everything these "Moral Christians" promote is everything the Devil teaches. They are dupes of the Anti-Christ.

I'm saying what I believe, Carson is a laughable liar, it's hard to get mad enough to say anything more. The irony of his statements as opposed to the term neurosurgeon is really hilarious.

The unparalleled hard expressions that ooze out of Dr. Carson's snot sounds like he was tutored by the Reich. With him in the health profession sounds to me like the devil's advocacy.

This IRS thing again...really. Ok let's put aside the fact that this has already been factually proven by witness testimony before congress not to have been some grand conspiracy. Lets put aside that fact that along with tea party, they also used query words like Progressive to identify groups to look at. I just want to talk about this TARGETING headline that I see so often....they were TARGETED by the IRS!!!! Danger Danger.... This TARGETING amounted to groups funneling boatloads of dark money into their superpacs who were applying to be tax exempt being asked some follow up questions before their applications were they all were, except actually for one progressive group. Yeah...TOTALLY the same as Hitler.

This is an insult to all Americans, especially the people that served during both wars. This is reprehensible at the very least because of the number of souls lost in the fighting and the death camps. If this heathen is granted access to political office, it speaks volumes of the illiteracy of the voting public.

When I hear the words"nazi party" I immediately think of the Republican Party. The rise of a fourth reich would occur in America should never allow a republican to obtain the presidency. Romney was referred to as hitler lite while perry and Santorum were pretty much considered hitler clones. Actually Santorum would be better compared to a mullah from Iran. These people scare the hell out of me.

carson is lucky that the US is NOT even close (the comparison is just plain stupid with a man with a brain) to Nazi Germany because he would have already been rounded up, branded and in a death camp waiting to be gassed.
Being black and all . . . . . . Jesse Owens proved himself the right way. By winning and shutting up that little wannabe painter from Austria who wanted to rule the world. In the US right now we have the Canadian terrorists and the teaklans.
    Take a page carson!

I don't see what everyone's complaining about. People say they want an intelligent bl ack man. Well this what it looks like. He's from a different culture that just says what it thinks. All kinds of people go around thinking this, he just says it. What do people expect that after 400 years of oppression he would have an outlook that things are just peachy keen? To get that you'd have to get someone who is at least half white like bama. I think it's refreshing to have someone that says what he really means.

Every time he opens his mouth he just proves how much of an idiot he is. He should keep speaking, and showing the world what today's GOP is all about.

Why is this man still allowed to walk among the rest of us? He is certainly certifiable and needs to be in some kind of facility where he can get the treatment he needs for his obvious delusions! He is dangerous.
