Vice President Biden's big weekend

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden is doing something this weekend that he hasn't done since 2011 - giving the White House Weekly Address.

The Vice President will use the weekly address that's heard on radio and the internet to stress the importance of raising the federal minimum wage, which has been a major goal for the administration over the past few months.

"The address will cap off the Vice President's eventful week spent advancing a number of the administration's domestic priorities," a Biden aide said.

"From touring a successful workforce training program in New Hampshire with Secretary Perez to demanding a higher wage for tipped workers at a local diner in Washington D.C. to encouraging Americans to sign up for health insurance through radio interviews, stakeholder calls, and online engagements, the Vice President's efforts throughout the week have been focused on moving key issue areas forward."

Biden's appearance on the weekly address comes as President Barack Obama is on an official trip to Europe and the Middle East.

Politico's Mike Allen was the first to report that the Vice President is delivering Saturday's address.
