Political Circus: Big Papi, big selfies, big deals

(CNN) - It was all fun and games cheesing it up with the President. That is until it was discovered that David “Big Papi” Ortiz had a deal with Samsung to snap shots with their Galaxy mobile phone during the Red Sox visit to the White House and tweet those pictures.

The White House’s response?

Not cool.  Spokesman Jay Carney said the administration generally “objects” to trying to cash in commercially using the President’s likeness.

Wrong room, senator

He was all prepped. Paperwork in hand. He’d even started questioning one of the witnesses.

One problem though, Sen. Dan Coates, R-Indiana, was in the wrong room.

He blames Russia.

And no, he can’t see Russia from his house.

Speaking of Russia…

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s bit with Jimmy Fallon as Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday on "The Tonight Show" was one big “I told you so.” In 2008, Palin wondered in a speech if then-Sen. Barack Obama would have the foreign policy moxie to know what to do if Putin invaded Ukraine. Guess she got her answer.

Cue the spooky music

And for all of you conspiracy theorists out there, former President Bill Clinton says he once had his people check out the record on Area 51 and there are no aliens held there.

Then again, he represents big government and we’re big media, so you probably won’t believe this post either.

She wears the pantsuit

Talk about winning big time hubby points. Former President Bill Clinton’s flattering Tweet mimicking his wife’s famous pose on a government plane earned him big time spouse cred.

Well played, sir. Well played.

Woman Power

When Beyoncé sang the lyrics “Who run the world? Girls” she might have had Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and International Monetary Fund chair Christine Lagarde in mind. Check them out giving each other woman power props.

I'm surprised Dan Coats didn't blame Obama.

Obama has really lowered the standards of the White House. What you expect from somebody who is a community organizer. I hope we are not that stupid again to vote another liberal/democrat into office.

@reggie53, could you please explain yourself? The Red Sox won the World Series last year. The winners go to the WH to have their moment with ANY president. This is why you teaklans cannot be taken seriously. You make absolutely NO SENSE!!!
Being a community organizer is hard work. A lot of the people you need to organize are volunteers. You know how hard that is? I volunteer for various causes and it's not easy to have people give up their time for a cause or to help others.
Of course, teaklans wouldn't know how to help others anyway.

Let me get this straight. You are saying that one of the zillion pictures taken with Obama was used for profit without Whitehouse permission. And that is "low standards" of some sort? I would hate to interpret your crude general rant as racist in some way but without specifics, you kind of start to sound that way dude.

"@Sniffit, I do believe it's called the miracle of the negative."

Huh? That photo above is not a negative, it's a B&W. Granted, someone could have screwed up, but I don't think that's what we're talking about here. I think we're just talking about someone who can afford $1,000 haircuts haha
