Ad for aviators or Joe Biden's Instagram account?

(CNN) - The vice president has joined the world of filter-obsessed smartphone photographers on the popular photo-sharing site Instagram.

Joe Biden's Instagram account posted its first picture on Wednesday - displaying the vice president's signature eyewear in the foreground and a studious Biden reading what may be an important White House memo, blurred in the background.

The vice president's Instagram feed is run by his office and posts by Biden himself are signed "VP," according to the account, @VP.

The caption with the photo said Biden will travel to Pennsylvania later Wednesday with the President to tout a jobs plan, as well as promising more pictures of Biden's famed sunglasses.

"Follow @VP for the latest from the Vice President, and the occasional aviators pic," the caption said.

An hour after the photo posted to Biden's account, more than 1,000 Instagram users had liked the picture and @VP had over 4,000 followers - no doubt spurred along by @WhiteHouse who tweeted a link to Biden's account after his Instagram page went live.
