GOP House group takes in $21 million, outraised by Dems in first quarter

(CNN) - The group working to keep control of the House in Republican hands raised $9.9 million in March and finished the first quarter of the year with $31 million cash on hand, according to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Over the course of the first three months of 2014, the NRCC said Sunday it raised $21.2 million, its largest first-quarter haul since 2003.

Its counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, outraised the Republicans in the first quarter. The DCCC announced last week it raised $10.3 million last month, $23.6 million for the quarter, and had $40.2 million in the bank by the end of March.

It had help from President Barack Obama, who has committed to headline at least six fundraisers for the group, one of which he did in the first three months.

Democrats need to pick up a challenging 17 seats this November to retake the majority. Political handicappers consider that a tall order, considering the shrinking number of competitive congressional districts nationwide.

CNN Political Editor Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

the many millions of dollars raised by obama for the democrats comes at a cost of many millions to the usa taxpayers as all that travel and security expense is footed by the usa taxpayers. all of this while he is on the clock, supposedly working for all americans, not his political party. it is bad enough he is ripping the american people for six of these events, but it is totally outrageous and corrupt that we are paying many millions for him to do it.

Democrat political donor Tom Steyer is giving a 100 million dollar donation for mid-terms. Steyer`s donation is geared towards his opposition of the Keystone pipeline project.

The Democrats need to use the full power of the IRS to reign in the Republicans' funds.
    – Audit any and all Republican donors to tie up money and intimidate any others who dare give money to the Republican cause
    – Deny any and all groups that have "Republican", "Freedom, "Tea", "American' tax-exemption status

The IRS is a deadly political weapon that the Democrats have been able to use before and is a totally acceptable use of the organization. They need to unleash the full power of the IRS and destroy any and all opposition.
