Washington (CNN) - It's been widely reported. The Republican Party is locked in battle. Establishment Republicans are being challenged by insurgents hoping to purify the brand and return the GOP to small government, free market principles.
The conservative grassroots are organizing this election season to elect their preferred, ideologically pure candidate, even if that means unseating House and Senate incumbents. It's a strategy they had in 2010 and 2012 with mixed results.

Wake Up People! Many Rivers to cross.....
Is it just me or does Mr. Our #1 Priority is to make Obama a one term President, look worried...?
----–
He does have some mighty fine and well manicured fingernails
-------------------------------------------------
Again my friend? In my head? This is getting freaky...I was thinking that he had hands like a woman actually...wow.
WUP! Sniffit wants baby back, babyback, what's your preference?!
I'd like some teryaki sauce with my side of McConnell.
He does look a tad preoccupied.
The GOP is obtuse just like the middle class people who back them. Its like biting off your nose to spit your face.
@smith
"This is a good thing for the GOP, they need more points of veiw for the vision of the party. If they can get over some of their dead issues(mainly abortion) that would help as well."
They will never abandon their wedge issues. It is part of the duct tape and bailing wire that is holding the party together.
As for McConnell looking worried... I heard on the radio yesterday his poll numbers in KY are actually lower than President Obama's, so sure, he is probably a little worried. It would be an epic coup de gras for the Dems to take his seat... and a death blow for their fantasies of taking the Senate.
With that being said, are the righties on here aware (especially tom I, since it is his hero) that by KY law rand paul cannot run for President AND his Senate seat at same time. He tried to get this stopped, but guess what... Dems control the House in the KY legilsature and they refused to vote on a bill which would change this (sound familiar?) which leaves rand facing a tough choice... give up his Senate seat to run for a very, very outside shot at the Presidency... or give up his fantasy and keep his Senate seat.
I know what I am rooting for.... paul/bundy 16'

I would like the GOP to really state for the record what they want to do.
-------------------------------------------------
They won't because they can't.
If they said out loud what they really want to do in regards to taxes, business regulations, public programs, women's health, and education it would be game over.
They have to at least pretend that they still care somewhat for the middle-class Americans that still believe that the GOP is about them versus about taking exclusive care of their wealthy benefactor.
There's just no money to be made taking care of the poor and the middle-class.
The GOP knows that and it's okay with kicking them to the proverbial curb.
They can't vocalize that to Joe Public.

Their father was a founding member. Big deal. What does that have to do with the two brothers? So pathetic. How about Tom Steyer? You know, the guy who was a hedge fund manager who made millions, if not billions, from the coal industry? How about George Soros and the Bank of England? Or how about the democrat turned republican turned independent monopoly owner of financial news Mr. Bloomberg? Why do you have to be so partisan? It's intellectually so dishonest to only mention one side. Both sides have big money spenders. Sheesh
Oh, and tell me if any of those have donated over 100 million to a hospital?

@Silence- The Huffington Post? Besides Mother Jones you couldn`t have found a more left wing slanted source. I`ve noticed you haven`t said a peep about Tom Steyer or all the rich families going to the WH for a get together?

The study was done by the National Cancer Institute of the National Institute of Health.

OK I'll bite: Koch is Tea Party and Steyer visits WH.

In other words, there is a demographic out there that wants government out fo the way so that the oligarchy can rise up to take its' place. The real civil war is being fought between differing factions of oligarchs: the folks who own the muliti-national private businesses versus those who run the publicly owned multi-national businesses. That's what's really going on.

Are you watching the same reality as the rest of us? The Tea Party does not offer "more points of view". The offer only one perspective, their own, and are totally intolerant of any other view. The words "personal greed is the only priority" sums them up fairly well.
Eh, What?
It's about more Fiscal Responsibility or less Fiscal Responsibility. We have had tons of less Fiscal Responsibility to the tune of nearly 18 Trillion and a run away freight train with no brakes. Now why does that remind me of Nero? It doesn't matter who you elect, the final result is the same. You stick your head in the sand and hope things will get better. You are going to ride that horse right into the ground and then wonder what happened? So where does the blame lie? Look in the mirror.
There should be many Pearls of Wisdom to come out of this Battle to be added to the already:" They Hate Us for Our Freedom; We Don't Torture; Tax Cuts for the Wealthy Create Jobs;Fight elqida In Iraq Instead of at Home; Reagen Proved Deficits Don't Matter;You Go To War With the Army You Have; The Iraq Insurgency is Dead Enders;
The most dangerous man in Washington right now, is still Boehner. If he acts improperly, the country is lost.
Must be looking for some Friday red meat on the POTUS.....
Can't wait for the Republicans to take the Senate!!! November cannot come soon enough!!!
The Republicans are a lost cause- their heroes are Bundy, Duck Dynasty characters, (unlicensed) "Joe the Plumber" types and really they are verging upon becoming the Tim McVey killer types. No doubt due to their allegiance to radical groups like the NRA that like and support arming criminals and kooks. They aren't a party anymore, they are home-grown terrorist supporters.
@bobo
"Can't wait for the Republicans to take the Senate!!! November cannot come soon enough!!!"
November of ???? Because it isn't going to be this November. That is another little republicant fantasy like romney leading in the polls. It isn't going to happen, though faux news will keep you all in kool aid until election day and you all will drink it.
Just like you drank the bundy is a patriot drivel they spewed all week.
"Oh, and tell me if any of those have donated over 100 million to a hospital?"
Laugh of the morning (or do I mean afternoon ... ticker response time is rather slow today).
But hey, thanks for the giggles, tom.
@The Real Tom P.-People like Tom Steyer and Soros show the double standard by some on here complaining about the Koch Bros. This claim that only the right have fat cat donors is complete fodder.
Gunderson
Eh, What?
It's about more Fiscal Responsibility or less Fiscal Responsibility.

If that's the case Gundy, please explain how the GOP's insistence on cutting taxes and starting two wars at the same time makes any sense at all to you. At no time in American history did this nation engage in battle abroad without raising taxes and selling bonds, yet somehow your team did exactly that in 2003- and ensures that the wealthy welfare continues to this day.

OK I will speak slowly and make my point clear. The Tea Party was founded by the Kochs for tax avoidance and to counter cigarette health bad PR as I quoted. It is not Grass-roots anything. John Birch was not grass roots, Tea Party is not grass roots.
Rudy,
With all die respect your "reality" is different from smith's and it is definitely. It mainstream. And as far as being "tolerant" of other viewpoints that would be a big fail. You are about as intolerant as possible as if someone doesn't share your opinion then they are branded a bigot or a racist or dumb or a hater or blah blah blah.
"How about Tom Steyer? You know, the guy who was a hedge fund manager who made millions, if not billions, from the coal industry? How about George Soros and the Bank of England? Or how about the democrat turned republican turned independent monopoly owner of financial news Mr. Bloomberg?"
Oh, you mean those wealthy people who support higher taxes on themselves and programs to assist the middle class and poor and disabled and elderly, etc., because they recognize their own responsibilities to society and the least among us?
"Why do you have to be so partisan?"
Because there's a difference between the parties and your (and the MSM's) false equivalencies are nothing but nonsense.
Tom l, do you really think that having a daddy who was a founding member of the John Birch Society did not impact the views of the sons? Please. How naive can you possibly be? And for someone who has been running around accusing people of pushing conspiracy theories, you certainly came of with a few whoppers of your own recently. Its really rather sad watching you push the Tom Steyer story while, once again, say nothing while conservative money pollutes the process. Saying that both sides do it is a cop-out. You won't condemn it because you think you will get your Libertarian Nirvana if there is enough money from the Kochs and their ilk.
@Smith, for every Soros and Steyer, there are at least 10 Kochs or Adelsons. I DO NOT WANT THEIR MONEY POLLUTING OUR POLITICS, but its the Kochs who have been at it far longer. That's why they get the lion's share of the attention. DO you understand now, or do I need to repeat myself? Your claims of purity on this subject are nauseating, since you don't want to take the time to see who has been doing it longer, and who get the lion's share of that billionaire boys club you seem to adore.
@Silence-No No..lol..The Hiltons, Rockfellers, Johnsons, and etc were invited to the WH for a get together.
