In GOP civil war, an outsized advantage

Washington (CNN) - It's been widely reported. The Republican Party is locked in battle. Establishment Republicans are being challenged by insurgents hoping to purify the brand and return the GOP to small government, free market principles.

The conservative grassroots are organizing this election season to elect their preferred, ideologically pure candidate, even if that means unseating House and Senate incumbents. It's a strategy they had in 2010 and 2012 with mixed results.

"Just as a Koch started the John Birch Society"

It does not matter.... grandaddy bush was supportive of the nazi party, big deal! That bundy feller turned out to be a racist (who'd have thunk it!?!).
They have cast their lot and if the story broke tomorrow of a video of all the republicant leaders selling state secrets to communists for bags of cash, these same righty posters would be on here blaming the 'librul media' and plots by Obama.
They cannot see the truth hanging in front of them each and every day.
They are lost in their inability to analytically process their own thoughts....

    Uh rs,
It seems your "Boy" has raised the National Debt to the tune of a Trillion Dollars plus each of these last 5 plus years. Damn the Torpedoes, full speed ahead! So why I ask is your "Boy" totally ignoring the National Debt? You know what is, the Rich ain't paying their "Fair Share" so if we can't get it one way, we will get it another. Unemployment was up 34,000 this week. The till is empty. So who is at fault? Again, look in the mirror.

    -------------------------------------------------
smith no one that anyone would listen to has made that claim on this site.
    It would be preposterous.
The conversation that normally takes place regarding fat cat donors is their willigness to stay anonymous when they are contributing to the GOP and their CPACS.

Hey smith. How morally kind of the Koch Bros to donate 100 million to cancer research. How this fits in politically with tom's insistence of politically defending these two brothers while also insisting others are (in his mind anyway) defending that other guy from the other side of the aisle (who I've yet to read anyone trying to glorify in quite the same manner as he is trying to glorify the Koch Bros) is strange ... to say the least. Hence my laughter.

    Rudy,
With all die respect your "reality" is different from smith's and it is definitely. It mainstream. And as far as being "tolerant" of other viewpoints that would be a big fail. You are about as intolerant as possible as if someone doesn't share your opinion then they are branded a bigot or a racist or dumb or a hater or blah blah blah.
    ------------------------–
Obviously, you have me mixed up with someone else. I don't call people names. I post the truth, and let people draw their own conclusions. I rarely post my personal opinions, which you seem to have confused with actual facts.

I know, I know. The opinion of a conservative is a fact, which you've made perfectly clear. Which is where your utter confusion comes from. Conservative posts misleading rant, with no basis in fact. I post the facts, which you, in turn, interpret me as disagreeing with original poster. Disagreement isn't even the picture, dude. Facts facts don't tell lies.

    Happy Friday DMFO,
From my perspective I believe that claim is made daily that only repubs are bought and paid for. Then someone like Steyer comes around and it is met with "yeah but the niches spent more!" or some other deflection of the reality that the dems are just as bought and paid for just from different people and different organizations.

The Kochs have donated lots of money to good causes and for that I applaud them. Bravo!

The Koch family has also founded organizations like Tea Party and John Birch Soc under the false pretenses of being grass-roots popular organizations. And that is a lie. For that I accuse them of greedy deception because they were for business benefit.

"Oh, and tell me if any of those have donated over 100 million to a hospital?"

That Facebook kid, whats-his-face,donated $100 million to the Newark, New Jersey public school system, after Chris Christie had slashed state aid. Ted Turner pledged and donated one billion dollars to the United Nations.

Oh, that's nice, the Koch' s donate 100 million to a cancer research facility, yet they do everything to spread their beliefs that are a cancer on our politics. Somehow the gift of money to a hospital offsets the real damage these two are doing to our society, and all the conservatives can do is say, " well, everyone else does it. Why don't you complain about them? " We did, and got campaign finance reform passed, reforms the Kochs' despised because it limited the reach their wealth could have in politics. The one area where they were limited by law, they had removed. No one else has been so dedicated to extending their personal vision into every aspect of our lives with no accountability, and that is somehow ok. Why? Because so-and-so does it to. Not true, not to the same degree.

Wellit appears that CNN has decided in its' infinitesimal wisdom that I cannot partake in this discussion.
Pity, because my point to tom l was and is that we can Google Steve JObs, Buffet, the Facebook kid and other wealthy benefactors to the Democratic Party and see what humanitarian and charitable contributions they have made.
The fact that the Koch brothers availed themselves of the same tax write-off as others have does not change the fact that only a certain small segment of the population like their brand of politics.

@DM4O-I`ve seen many times where people have claimed that the left gets the bulk of funds from the little people making small donations. Also, many claim the GOP is the party for the rich or 1%. Like I said people like Steyer and Soros show thats not all true.

Pop quiz, genius- who makes the Budget of the United States?

Why its that "do nothing" Congress run by Mr. Boehner. Whose fault is that?

Cheap piece of advice- stop defending giving the rich all the breaks. It hasn't done anything in 30 years.
