Rand Paul wins Maine GOP straw poll

(CNN) - Sen. Rand Paul won a presidential straw poll this weekend at Maine's GOP convention.

The Kentucky Republican, who's seriously considering a bid for the White House in 2016 and who spoke at the convention on Saturday, took just over a quarter (26%) of the 690 ballots cast.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas came in second with 14%, followed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 10% and both physician Ben Carson and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 9%.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush took 8%, with Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin at 5%, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice tied at 4%.
