Palin: ‘Waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists’

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a capacity crowd at a National Rifle Association rally how she would baptize terrorists if she was an elected official.

“If I was in charge,” Palin said Saturday in Indianapolis, “they would know, waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who ran against then Sen.-Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with Palin as his running mate, has spoken out against waterboarding, calling it illegal and ineffective. During the Vietnam War, McCain endured years of torture and imprisonment as a prisoner of war under the North Vietnamese.

In her speech, Palin also said the Washington insiders who called the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood a case of workplace violence “don’t know what is right.” That shooting was carried out by Maj. Nidal Hassan.

“Not when that evil Muslim terrorist Major Hassan massacres his fellow military soldiers at Fort Hood,” she said.

Characterizing Hassan, “that devil” as a ‘disgruntled employee,’” is hypocritical, said Palin.

Palin called liberals hypocrites for their stance on issues varying from gun control to torture at the NRA event that was part of the organization’s 2014 convention.

But she backtracked later, saying, “Not all intolerant anti-freedom leftist liberals are hypocrites.”

“I’m kidding,” she said. “Yes, they are.”

Palin told the crowd that “guys like” Sen. Al Franken and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “are not satisfied with just taking your money and your job and your truck and your property and your rights and your healthcare. Those Democrats trying to get all ‘Pelosi’ on ya, and you’re not gonna have it!” she said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Palin accused the Democrats of pursuing “policies that poke our allies in the eye and coddle adversaries instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies.”

She ended her speech by telling the crowd that the bracelet she wears celebrates the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791.

“It’s why we’re here, to celebrate and confirm that solemn oath to liberty,” she said.

Everyone that complains about Palin is just feeding into her. Every time you laugh at her, she is simply laughing back at you, all the way to the bank.
She has made a pretty good living off the Dems so far. LOL

Look at all the big, bad liberals, calling a woman names and mocking her! I can't remember ever seeing such misogynistic ignorance, and if the sides were reversed, this shameless assault would be front page news in the liberal media!

But, on this same website, there is a story about it being out of bounds even mentioning the age of your liberal woman political dynasty candidate!

You liberal weenies must be so proud, you can senselessly criticize EVERYTHING about a woman you don't know, even her handicapped child; you must be the most manly of liberal men!

@reagan lives in patriots like her!???? How quickly the right forgot about her and Rice.
The same Reagan who thought that taxing seniors' social security checks and give them less was the right thing to do?
He slept through his presidency and this woman doesn't have enough of a brain for one single intelligent thought, it was obvious in 2008 and it's worse now that she has no cue cards!

Most of the people who rail about how stupid liberals and Democrats are voted for this woman. Remember that.

Oh, and Christians... You all need to stand up against this stuff. It is very damaging to your reputation. People like Palin and Bush are big reasons why churches are shrinking.

So ... this rant and rave was before the gathered faithful of the NRA? What does any of it have to do with protecting our 2nd amendment rights? When the NRA had Glen Beck as their keynote speaker at their 2013 convention, that was enough for me. I cut up my NRA membership card and told 'em to drop me off their distribution lists. What was once a very good organization has become one of the very worst of the far right lunatic bins. And the irony of her rant, contrasted with her holding up that bracelet that represents the Bill of Rights? Seriously?

I have no issues with torturing terrorists but this is total nonsense from Palin. There is no reason to incite people with these kings of statements. It makes her look ignorant not strong.

I don't appreciate her using a wonderful rite of passage in my religion to justify torture. Go back to a real church, Ms. Palin, and this time actually listen to the Gospel. Is she on something or drinking at these events?!

Sarah Palin is a raving lunitic. She couid not get electic to a statewide office let alone a national office. She is riding the NRA circut with the likes of Ted Nugent. She is backing water boarding which has proven ineffective in gathering intellengence.

I used to feel sorry for this woman because I felt like she was just ignorant. Comments like these only reach people who have radical view points and are not true patriots of our country. My father was a Conservative and like John McCain fought in 2 conflicts, Korea and Vietnam and he would be embarrassed that someone like this woman is using the Conservative platform for her own gain and not because she believes what she is saying. Maybe she needs to be baptized.

It is deeply frightening to me that this woman was almost Vice President. She sees the world through such a black and white point of view. Good and Evil. Us and Them. That's really scary.

I wonder how she squares her belief in torture with her professed support of the bill of rights... specifically the 8th amendment which states "excessive bail shall not be required,..., nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted" as i would consider water boarding cruel and unusual, as would every serious statesman considering we've imprisoned soldiers who did it in WW2 and Vietnam and it is against the Geneva Conventions of which we are signatories. Oh, you know who was a part of that big push for outlawing those sorts of things in war? that liberal bleeding heart General EISENHOWER...

also, i would suspect that most of what we do to the people we charge with terrorist activities also violates the the 6th amendment right to speedy trial and confrontation of witnesses. i guess she only cares about the 2nd amendment...

if she spent as much time actually reading the constitution she professes to love so much instead of babbling incoherently about it, she would be taken seriously by more than just the 10% that are nuts.
