Palin: ‘Waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists’

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a capacity crowd at a National Rifle Association rally how she would baptize terrorists if she was an elected official.

“If I was in charge,” Palin said Saturday in Indianapolis, “they would know, waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who ran against then Sen.-Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with Palin as his running mate, has spoken out against waterboarding, calling it illegal and ineffective. During the Vietnam War, McCain endured years of torture and imprisonment as a prisoner of war under the North Vietnamese.

In her speech, Palin also said the Washington insiders who called the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood a case of workplace violence “don’t know what is right.” That shooting was carried out by Maj. Nidal Hassan.

“Not when that evil Muslim terrorist Major Hassan massacres his fellow military soldiers at Fort Hood,” she said.

Characterizing Hassan, “that devil” as a ‘disgruntled employee,’” is hypocritical, said Palin.

Palin called liberals hypocrites for their stance on issues varying from gun control to torture at the NRA event that was part of the organization’s 2014 convention.

But she backtracked later, saying, “Not all intolerant anti-freedom leftist liberals are hypocrites.”

“I’m kidding,” she said. “Yes, they are.”

Palin told the crowd that “guys like” Sen. Al Franken and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “are not satisfied with just taking your money and your job and your truck and your property and your rights and your healthcare. Those Democrats trying to get all ‘Pelosi’ on ya, and you’re not gonna have it!” she said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Palin accused the Democrats of pursuing “policies that poke our allies in the eye and coddle adversaries instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies.”

She ended her speech by telling the crowd that the bracelet she wears celebrates the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791.

“It’s why we’re here, to celebrate and confirm that solemn oath to liberty,” she said.

TLC wants her for a new reality show. It can be sandwiched between My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding and Toddlers and Tiara's. She's about as relevant.

This woman is as good as they get and I love her as someone who speaks her mind. She does not lie as does our AfroAmerican president, she is not a race baiter as our AG Holder is, and is not feeble minded as is Senator McCain. Best of all, she knows how to get under the skin of brainwashed liberals. Too bad she didn't become our Vice President.

Palin is a publicity hound and she relentlessly pursues any chance for media exposure.

What is more worrisome from my point of view, is the mindset of the NRA which apparently invited her to speak. Just think–these are the people who believe that any restrictions on firearms, whether it's ownership, type of firearm, or defining firearm-free zones, is an attack on their Constitutional freedoms, never mind the introductory clause of the Second Amendment.

And they are armed. Paranoid, reactionary, and armed. YIKES!

I'm not a Palin fan and sometimes I think the NRA is their own worst enemy, but since when can't people take a joke? I actually thought this was funny! Would it have been any better if she said we could drone them as one of their sacraments?? Its time for people to lighten up!

    I wish she'd go a way, I really do.
Unfortunately I do have to agree (I hate this) that the Ft Hood shooting was not just 'workplace violence'. It was an act of terrorism, by a Muslim who was VERY clear about why he did what he did. It was ALL about his religion and he let everyone know that. He was not just a worker upset about some work practice.

But, please, no more Palin. ON the other hand, every time she opens her mouth, her stupidity comes out and everyone hears it, so she at least lets people know how ignorant she is. Can you imagine her being president? She would have if McCain had won, and something had happened to him during his term.

Sarah Palin is the embodiment of the republican Party . They are as educated, as smart and as charismatic. I love it when the media gives her attention. It reminds everyone what they are all about. Lights are on, but no one home. Bravo Sarah!

Sara Palin, like the Clippers owner and Cliven Bundy are the worst of Americans. Claiming privilege over others as birthright, anti-intellectualism as patriotism and stupidity as the way to do business they define the new hard right. The market will banish these sorts over time and they will become, like plantation owners and industry bigwigs of the late 1800's bad footnotes.
Yes, it's been quite the week for Republicans. I think they have managed to prove themselves among the more bigoted, unthinking, hypocrites out there.

I have friends and a family member who were members of the NRA–back when it was a respectable organization. After they were taken over by the loonies, they all quit. Believe me, it doesn't mean they are against guns rights–quite the opposite. But they are against an organization that has become totally irresponsible.

Quite a few are tired of the half-term governor of Alaska flapping her gums. We hope that you do not give this sad imitation of adulthood any more press until her obituary.

The Conservatives hero, Sarah Palin. You gotta love her when she opens her mouth. So what she is basically saying is that she wants to baptize Terrorists through water boarding? What pray tell religion is she going to lead them to? Baptist? Pentecostal? This woman is amazing. If she were a man she would have no hope in politics, career over in our country. In the USA she will advance as a woman and who knows? President? God only help us.

she said terrorists… I am fairly certain any family that has been the victim of terrorism would have no problem with the water boarding of a terrorist to prevent other family members from suffering at the hands of terror.
Funny, unnecessary gun violence touches the lives of many more Americans (and could rightly be termed "terrorism" don't you think?), and here is the idiot Palin shilling for the NRA and guns everywhere.

Even aside from political issues – what a blasphemous, un-Christian comment – making flippant and disrespectful jokes like that (not to mention un-funny and in very poor taste) about one of the most central elements of Christianity. This from a woman who identifies as a Christian, to an audience who largely identify themselves as the same.
