Washington (CNN) - Sen. Marco Rubio says he doesn't believe humans are causing climate change and doesn't think any action can reverse course.
This as a new White House report indicated that Rubio's home state of Florida is one of the most vulnerable to rising sea levels.
"I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it," the first term senator said Sunday on ABC "This Week," after being asked by ABC News' Jon Karl whether humans were contributing to the heating up of the planet.

"I do not believe that the laws that they propose we pass will do anything about it, except it will destroy our economy," added Rubio, who's seriously considering a bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
Rubio says he's ready to be commander-in-chief
Rubio's latest comments are similar to what he said on CNN last week.
"I think severe weather has been a fact of life on earth since man started recording history. I understand that there's a vast consensus of scientists that are saying that human activity is what's contributing to changes in our climate. I think it's an enormous stretch to say that every weather incident that we read about or the majority of them are attributable to human activity," Rubio told CNN's Bill Weir Tuesday on "CNN Tonight."
Rubio's comments come as President Barack Obama's administration last week declared, unequivocally, that climate change is underway across the United States. The U.S. National climate Assessment Report, released last Tuesday, offered a dire assessment of the impact of climate change, and named Miami as the city most vulnerable to damage from rising sea levels. The report was criticized by many Republican lawmakers.
The U.S. isn't alone in raising serious concerns. The United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change came to the conclusion that humans are behind global warming.
In his CNN interview, Rubio knocked the administration's report and criticized the President's efforts on the issue of climate change. Obama has proposed new programs to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, which most scientists say are the major cause of global warming.
"The President is, he's not a meteorologist. Here's what the President needs to be focused on. He's proposing a certain set of policies that he would have to admit if questioned will do nothing. If in fact these scientists are right and it's greenhouse gas emissions that are changing our climate, none of the things he's proposing would do anything to change that whatsoever, but it would have a devastating impact on our economy.
The most recent national polling on climate chanted indicated that a majority of Americans said humans were causing global warming. According to a Gallup poll conducted in early March, 57% of the public said human activities were behind global warming, with four in ten saying natural changes were causing the earth to heat up.
Fifty-four percent of those questioned in the survey said the effects of global warming were already happening. But less than four in ten said that global warming would pose a threat to their way of life.
The poll indicated a major partisan divide, with a majority of Democrats saying they worried a great deal about global warming, but more than six in ten Republicans saying they worried only a little bit or not at all about climate change.
This guy is just an idiot, he should leave the science to the scientists, just another republican thinking he knows EVERYTHING.
'just asking ....when are all of the lefties and liberals going to give their usage of fossil fuels? let's start there. let's pass legislation requiring all liberals and democrats to show us all the way by denying them the use of these fossil fuels they seem to hate so much.show use all the way to the future lefties. let us know how things go next winter. rememebr, no burning wood in that cave either!'
oh grow up, seriously. If you disagree with this science on political grounds, and think its only 'dems and liberals' then you really have no positive role to play in the discussion.
99.9% of the global scientific community is aligned that we humans are the main contributor to global warming; some of the science indicates that the Earth should in fact be in a cooling period. Conservatives (aka oil companies) made this a political issue for the simple issue of greed. That many Americans choose to beleive political idealogues and self-interested Corporate CEOs over the scientific community demonstrates how little they bother to think.
Now the question is, "Does he really believe that or just realize he can drum up some votes from non-believers?" I'm just glad to know we have so many scientists in politics. What's that? We don't. They are not a bunch of smart scientists? We take their word(s) for it that they know what they are talking about? Yep. He'll got those votes alright. Slick move Mr Snake oil salesman, well done.
Yes Mr. Rubio, The scientists made it all up.just so you would have something to spout out about for your very questionable Presidential run You will be swimming in Florida before you know it! With people like you, we won't have a survivable planet.
I hope he is ready to eat coal and drink oil.
No matter what you believe. The simple truth is that the policies proposed by the Admin will do nothing to slow or stop climate change. That is even if you believe or don't believe human activity caused or even enhansed climate change. So weaken our economy with policys that will not make a dent in global warming. That's not even change we can live with. Just hope we can make it to 2016 before the wheels fall off the wagon.
Climatologists have predicted many things in the last 60 years, none of which have come true. Their computer models were constant cases of GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out). In was warmer 1200 years ago during The Medieval Warming Period than it is now, even warmer than what the climatologists are predicting for 50 years from now. That's why the conspirators at East Anglia College were trying to make The Medieval Warming Period, "go away" statistically. in order to "prove" their global warming lie.
All you need to do is pray and consult your Mayan Calendar and look no anthropogenic climate change! Wow, that's simply amazing Marco. I think we should try using your same method to treat cancer or polio. Oh and while your at it maybe you should consult Boko Haram about their views on human rights too!
Funny how those same scientist that you choose to ignore are the ones that issue tornado warnings and tell us where hurricanes will make land fall and where tsunamis are going to strike, (AND GET IT RIGHT) yet this guy thinks that they know less than he does about world climate data and causality!
That is equivalent to having your doctor give you antibiotics for an infection, perform surgery to remove your appendix and then deciding to treat your kids cancer by burning incense and sacrificing chickens because doctors don't really know medicine!
These people are nuts bordering on criminal.
There is no climate change.
There is no such thing as evolution.
The world is flat.
Christians need to be greatly concerned with Mr. Rubio's ignorance. He forgets that God created the earth with good. There is nothing good about pollution, toxic wastes being poured into the atmosphere, and the divinely created planet despoiled by exploitation instead maintained by care. Mr. Rubio belongs to the Medieval Ages where people poured garbage out of their windows into the streets. He would say, "That's okay; disease is not caused by human waste." If he and others like him take over the government not even God will prevent mass suffering.
Actually it sounds like Mr. Rubio knows what he's talking about.
Just wanted to add some balance to all the liberal whiners who have commented.
Is this clown for real? I'm sure he denies that the sky is blue and the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. He is no more qualified to be POTUS than the man in the moon!
Senator Rubio's extremism is awaiting moderation.
If you believe in global warming, consider this. On a global scale, the U.S. is not the major culprit behind CO2 emissions, acid rain and climate change. China and other developing countries which manufacture and polute the way US did many decades ago, endanger the entire Earth. We can't built 20-mile-high wall to keep foreign-manufactured pollution out of here. Get real.
Has anyone seen photos of the air in CHINA lately? The people there wear masks to go outside. The smog there blows over and affects our western seaboard. Even if climate change is caused by humans, it does not follow that the U.S. is the country to regulate.
Thank God this idiot has little chance of becoming President.
Congratulatons, Marco, on the huge campaign contributions you got for making these statements. Hope they're worth it when your grandchildren are dying from the drought and famine global climate change will cause.
Stupid, just plain stupid.
Ignorant!
“Bad science gone berserk,” is how Weather Channel co-founder John Coleman characterized a just released White House report on global warming.
The 800 plus page report is just one more act of violence against science perpetrated under the guise of saving the planet from some imagined future ills, with the full intent of scaring the American people into supporting emergency action.
NO global warming for 17 years, 9 months and counting. The liberal agenda needs to scare up some more money.
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!! And liberals have the answer to it all!! Raise taxes on fossil fuels to astonomical levels!! The money will then be given to others to fix the problem!!! All it will cost you is TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS of taxes, MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of JOBS, and the destruction of of the national economy.
And if you oppose this you are just plain insane!!! because the SKY IS FALLING, the SKY IS FALLING!!!
Let me get this straight: the extent of his knowledge of science is Santa Fe Community College. But he has decided that he knows more than scientists.
I thought that a good Christian would put honesty and Christ above money and party.
The voters of Florida should reconsider any thoughts to re-elect Rubio. They are the ones being affected by the rising sea level, more tornados, and more severe hurricanes. The people of Florida are paying the price for Senator Rubio's denial of scientific facts.
Anybody who says global warming is not affected by human behavior is intentionally ignorant. Where do these pinheads think all the pollution is going. This guy wants to be Pres. but he wont tackle global warming because it's all a bunch of crap? Good luck.
