(CNN) - Mitt Romney is calling on a police commissioner to apologize and resign after using the N-word to describe President Obama
"The vile epithet used and confirmed by the commissioner has no place in our community: He should apologize and resign,” Romney said Sunday in a statement provided to CNN.

Robert Copeland, 82, is the police commissioner in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire - where Romney owns a home and spends a lot of time.
On Thursday evening Copeland refused to apologize at a town meeting for using the term.
The Boston Herald first reported Romney's statement.

Mitt Romney is beginning to make me regret voting for him in 2012. If he had showed some GRIT, he probably would have won.
Why should he have to apologize??
Neoconfederate racists will rule the world!!!!!!!!
(unless we crush them.....)
Mitt Romney is one republican who shows leadership skills .
Can you believe , Marco Rubio , Rick Perry , Rand Paul , nor any other republican said anything about Robert Copeland and his racist comments .
Bob, you don't have to respond to any of this foolishness. Say it again from the hill tops. Hold your ground.
another old white dude out of touch with the rest of us. there all dying off thankfully
Romney is right the old man should go on and give it up and step down .
Most other Republicans should listen to Mitt Romney here. I may not agree with him on most things but he is correct here.
Don't worry Mitt, That old dude has nine toes in the grave and thankfully will be gone soon.
Wow Donald Sterling is a Sheriff in NH. Amazing!
so much of the anti-Obama fervor is about just that.
His Freedom of Speech goes along with our Freedom to Ignore him.
Who does Mitt think he's kidding? Copeland's ideals fit right in with the tea party. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't got him running for president yet.
Classy response, Cranbrook probably taught him well.
Mitt the loser just needs to disappear.
Mitt: this is YOUR party. This guy represents many within YOUR party. Demanding an apology from this clown is a good start but don't stop there. Demand one from Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, the "you lie" dude, and Foxx from Georgia to start. Then you could move on to Pat Robertson, Allen West, Rush Limbaugh for phase 2.
Had Romey . . .
1.) shown his tax returns [and not tried to defend his low effective tax rate as no big deal]
2.) shown this kind of courage against the conservative base` anti-black inspired Obama hatred
3.) Shown some realization of economic fairness in a higher minimum wage
4) dress Linbaugh down when he verbally bullied Sandra Fluke
. . . maybe he could have won the election.
Funny how once free to speak their conscience, SOME Republicans aren`t so bad after all. The path to winning national elections though is in moderating those extremist views and past policy positions.
Now, will John Boehner follow Mitt`s lead regarding Copeland? How about Eric Cantor or presidential hopefuls like Cruz, Rubio, Paul, Perry, Santorum, Daniels, Walker, Jindal, Christie? Any of you want to MANUP on this one? Does anyone of you have any LEADERSHIP DNA in you? We know Huckabee doesn`t because he sided with Cliven Bundy and liberals will keep that millstone around his neck.
Classy move for Mitt Romney.
Romney says " We will not allow anyone to talk about our President this way, unless you are campaining for me."
Wow! Mitt Romney, once the icon of the GOP (who pretty much all believe that "the N-word" is completely acceptable and who have said FAR worse things about President Obama BTW) is asking for an apology?! from some random police commissioner?! Talk about disingenuous! Um hey Mittens! how about you get your ENTIRE party (including their voters) to issue an "apology" to President Obama and then... and ONLY THEN.. are you allowed to say ANYTHING about what some small-town-random-nobody police commissioner says about President Obama!
Huh. Interesting. The GOP should tell all the racists that it doesn't want their votes more often. They might have a chance at the White House some day if they keep up this sanity. Odd they couldn't muster it two years ago.
So is this police commissioner part of the irresponsible 47% or not?
Oh get over it, just call him whiteie back. When someone calls you a name are you a man or a mouse, a man will ignore it and see where it comes from, a mouse will whine and cry saying, you can't call me names, it hurts my feelings, I'm offended, boo hoo. The guy who called the name just shows everyone his mentality level and that he's a racist thats all, ignore him and have nothing to do with him unless he does say he's sorry and mean it.
Good luck with that. Obama is a guy who personally approved the slaughter of thousands of innocents. He's a war criminal! And you expect him to apologize for a slur? That would be akin to Churchill's demanding an apology from Hitler for calling him names.
For an elected official to disgrace himself in his disgusting maligning of the POTUS and then gleefully puff our his chest is a sign of the times. He should be real proud of himself and his political affiliation. It is no secret that he is representative of a huge percentage of ring wing bigotry. They have come out of the closet at warp sped, claiming to be real Americans, and Christians to boot. What an insult to the greatest story ever told.
Someone is running in 2016....
