(CNN) - Mitt Romney is calling on a police commissioner to apologize and resign after using the N-word to describe President Obama
"The vile epithet used and confirmed by the commissioner has no place in our community: He should apologize and resign,” Romney said Sunday in a statement provided to CNN.

Robert Copeland, 82, is the police commissioner in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire - where Romney owns a home and spends a lot of time.
On Thursday evening Copeland refused to apologize at a town meeting for using the term.
The Boston Herald first reported Romney's statement.

He said N.igger.....so what they call themselves that all the time.
This guy will be dead soon....and their generation doesn't know any better, because ignorance was born in their generation. But saying this about the President of the United States.....no President no matter what party should be called things like this at any time. Just out of shear respect for the Position. But again Ignorance is something that cannot be tamed and has no bounds.
Mitt Romney owns Clear Channel Radio's 850 radio stations, noteworthy for regularly broadcasting Rash Limburger and the rest of the racist right wing zoo. I am glad Mitt has called for the resignation of this police commissioner. The protection of equal rights for ALL citizens of race, religion color or creed demands it. However, if Mitt Romney is serious about opposing racism, it is time he remove the racist talk show hosts from his radio stations. That will really put him on the record.
Why does this not really seem like news?
As far as Romney asking for the resignation....Man that political experience clicks in quick for Mitt. Didin't waste a second...lolol
Rather generous of Mr. Romney after the way he's been treated by Obama and the Democrats.
Who is Mitt Romney? Rumor has it someone with that name was around a few years ago...but I disagree. as Obi-won would say...Mitt Romney, now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
The man has the right to say anything he wants, no matter how vulgar. No one asked Romney's mom for an apology when she gave birth, did they? Romney is just trying to stay in the news. Have a great day.
Who cares what the twit does!! Is he now back living in NH? What happened to the car elevator mansion in CA?
He should quit and don't giive him a job as a dog catcher either, put a muzzle on him and cage him.
Sad. people are rude and those who need the language to prove themselves ,probably need to look in the mirror and ask why they would say anything that is gross.
the people in this little new hampshire town should take any legal action necessary to remove him from his position. if that doesn't work they should take any other action necessary, no matter how much in poor taste or illegal it is. this police chief is trash and needs to be taken out like the trash.
I wish he had shown more of this kind of moral fiber during some of the primary debates.
Second the motion!
Romney's right. But, if he doesn't resign doesn't he have a superior who can fire him?
apparently romney doesn't know any more about the 1st amendment than obama does...
I give credit where credit is due. Good job Mr. Romney
Have to agree with Romney on this one. Copeland is an utter fool and bigot and should not be in a position of power making decisions in govn't. If they can't remove him by law, than there should be a special election and hopefully a more rational person will win. Sad that so many who disagree with others have to use racial slurs. People "think" that there is no need for civil rights legislation anymore. And it is no excuse that he is old....he is a fool and a bigot.
What would anybody want to bet this guy is a GOP/Repub/Tea Pee'r RWNJ? Does Clive Bundy come to mind at all? This is the latest, angry, bigot old white man upset there's a black dude in the White House....And for all those that would say "...its his constitutional right under the 1st Amendment to say and use incendiary hate speech .... listen to the interview. The only protection this bigot has is from Government prosecution. As for the town's citizens, tourists, visitors, corporate sponsors...well that's another matter. I say hit this guy where it hurts ...in the wallet like they're doing for good ole' Donald Sterling. Going broke is taking true ownership and standing tall for your racist beliefs. LOL
Mr. Romney showing come class. I'm not a Republican, but it was a classy thing to do.
He should be brought down to his size just like Paula Dean! As-far-as Mitt Romney suggesting he apologize and resign, I do not believe Rmoney could care less. It's just a show he is putting on for the GOP and he is trying to make this a political issue to better himself!
At age 82 he is among the last of the old age bigots and because of that he will never apologize. He unfortunately is of the type of bigot who enjoys such verbiage, and shows little or no moral center what so ever. Who ever put him in office will can remove him from office and if that does not happen it makes it clear how the city, state feels about such bigotry. Lets hope they do the right thing and kick him out of the department!
I didn't vote for Obama and don't agree with him on most political stances, however he is the President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief. He was duly elected to the office. I don't know much about him outside of what has involved the carrying out of his responsibilities and the elections. There is a certain respect for the office that I feel must be there on the part of all who claim to be conscientious citizens and who value our Republic, regardless if one thinks the country is being led in the right direction.
The sort of demonizing that goes on both sides, especially against those in power, has escalated in its viciousness in the past decade. It is why I cannot be a part of any of the political parties, regardless how strongly I feel about the direction of the country. Our true enemies are only too delighted with the increasing divisiveness being pushed by the extreme, and now not so extreme, factions along the political spectrum.
Sigh, thank you Captain Obvious. What a daring stand on principle.
Republicans just cannot stop themselves. They are who they are; and they are racists.
