(CNN) - Mitt Romney is calling on a police commissioner to apologize and resign after using the N-word to describe President Obama
"The vile epithet used and confirmed by the commissioner has no place in our community: He should apologize and resign,” Romney said Sunday in a statement provided to CNN.

Robert Copeland, 82, is the police commissioner in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire - where Romney owns a home and spends a lot of time.
On Thursday evening Copeland refused to apologize at a town meeting for using the term.
The Boston Herald first reported Romney's statement.

Time to retire! Right after he retires he should go have a brain scan!
Good for Romney
good job mitt, you're still a bag though
Why are there no comments of outrage? I guess only in the NBA! All those who called for the NBA owner to be fined and forced to sell his team should be calling for this guys firing!
Who cares what footnote wants? Why is he getting news coverage? We know he still thinks he can win the WH, but he is the only person in the US who has that delusion.
I may be old fashioned, but, Even though Romney's actions may be politically motivated, they also happen to be the right thing to do. A police commissioner describing anyone, including the president, in such a way is just wrong. That kind of language just doesn't fit with the 21st century and displays the police commissioner's lack of empathy and education.
What grumpy old fart....
When will the Romney-ite wing of the GOP ever understand that trying to look decent in these situations NEVER scores points with the other side? The call for this resignation is pure politics and we grow tired of these things.
He really want to be the head of the RNC after the 2014 elections, doesn't he?
Romney the coward should be locked up in Gitmo.
You have got to be kidding me. This guy should not have the honor of holding a public office.
Like Donald Sterling, Copeland is a dinosaur. His kind is fading out, so is it going to be helpful to spend much energy on this? I know almost nobody other than very old people who talk like this. I bet the guy resigns in the next few days, thanks to the towns most prominent resident speaking out (I think Romney actually lives there). What strikes me as a larger issue, because I live in NH, is that police commisions are so inconsistency in place throughout the state. Some towns have them and others don't. It depends on if the chief in a town wants one or not. This means the towns that need them the most, like the one I live in, don't have them and vice versa.
Racism is alive and well....it is a learned behaviour and needs to stop being taught. He needs to be fred!
Absolutely. Is there any question? Media personalities are fired for much less. I think a public servant should be fired for this.
There comes a time where white people r going to stand up and sayvenough is enough.
I'm wondering why there aren't any response to this article
America's true colors are running racist as the second term lengthens.
Dem or Rep. No one has the right to show that much hatred and lack of respect for POTUS or the Office. This man
is an abomination reminiscent of the 40's & 50's for racism. You don't have to like POTUS'S politics, race, religion or anything about POTUS, but one cannot tolerate this man' s action in NH.
Of course he should resign. No president of the U.S., whether conservative or liberal, GOP or Democrat, should be subjected to such a slur by a public servant–or anyone.
The whole issue here is that Obama is a half breed so the N-Word doesn't pertain to him. What a waste of the N-Word
Romney once again shows himself to be a decent man who hasn't succumbed to the blatant crassness of some within his party. He could have met this with silence,to his credit he didn't. Thank you sir.
It's his personal opinion and therefore he owes no apology. We still have a right to our own opinions in this country. There's way too much apologizing going around and that has to stop.
Stop paying so much attention to racial slurs and they will eventually go away! Black people say that word all the time and it is no big deal.
I thought Ol' Mitt would be the last one to care, but he's apparently classier than I thought. How refreshing.
Gramps: "Time for the old coot to retire."
