Obama goes for a walk

(CNN) - President Obama stunned tourists and others outside of the White House as he decided to take a stroll to the nearby Interior Department, accompanied by his sizable security detail.

The White House posted video of the rare outdoor trek, which took place Wednesday.

Obama shook hands, hugged, took photos and passed out White House M&M's to the surprised passers-by.

One woman, who introduced herself as Karen, asked for a picture and said it was "the best day of her life."

"Oh my gosh. Someone's going to think you're like wax," she added, as the photo was being taken.

Haters are pitiful people. They whine and cry and stomp their teeny little feetsies, having a tantrum, because Rmoney and clown ryan were NOT elected (Thank Heavens!)

  3. ThinkAgain: Don't like Congress? Get rid of the repub/tea bag majority.

@Robert Camacho: "This is awesome, I respect OUR President. Whether you like it or Not, he is our President."

And yet, the gop, tea bags, RWNJ radio hosts, fox anchors, all push and push and push the idea that President Obama is NOT our president.

Why? Because it freaks them out that there is a black man in the White House, whose policies kept us from going into a Great Depression and is slowly turning around the economy, who gave the kill order for bin Laden, who is a good and honest and decent man, husband and father, and who has shown extraordinary patience in the face of the most vile hatred and lies leveled at him.

righties are a bunch of pathetic fools.

Awkward...she announes that this was the best day of her life....while her husband and son are standing right next to her. Day of her wedding....upstaged by Obama. The birth of her child...a footnote compared to meeting Obama. I feel really sorry for this woman and even worse for her husband and child.

President Obama is one of the greatest presidents in American history. From getting us out of the great recession to the Affordable Care Act to getting Bin Laden to correctly dealing with Putin. President Obama has done a great job.

This is news? Politicians make their living shaking hands, kissing babies and posing for pictures. Only difference here is he's not running for anything.

Oh, for heaven's sake, people. It's a gorgeous day in DC. I might not like the guy, but I'm not going to begrudge him getting outside for some fresh air and to stretch his legs. Sheez.

Pretty sad when people use a rather positive article such as this to post negative comments. I would imagine some of these individuals have unhappy lives. Perhaps some need more love from their families.

  20. Just for one day....

It's okay to be human. Can you imagine the prerssue this guy is under? The sky is falling all around him...

So why not take a walk on a nice Spring day in DC and hand out some M+M's...

99.9 % of the people in the entire world couldn't hold a conversation with BHO on world events, economy, human rights, the taliban.. and how to fix it all. If it even can be fixed. With no help from anyone....

I know i couldn't. Enjoy the day, Barack. You made a few folks smile.

Who are the two total stupid ingrates, about a min. into the video clip, who do not stand up when the President enters the scene; they just sit there on the park bench like two mindless idiots. Everyone knows, you stand up for the President, no matter if you agree with his politics or not. Show some respect people! Sheesh!
    May 22, 2014 03:07 pm at 3:07 pm

I agree that people *should* show respect, but not that standing up when the President strolls by is the only way to do it. I lived for four years in a third world country where the law required that everyone stop what they were doing and face the flag whenever it was raised or lowered. To me that law was always more about the weakness of the government (and believe me, that government was and is a basket case - so powerless that a Libertarian wouldn't even bother to drown it), not some kind of show of awesome strength.

President Obama doesn't need that kind of coercion to get respect - clearly he's able to meet people where they are. And it looks like he and that couple had a nice chat, even if they weren't seeing eye-to-eye.

The sad thing, to me, is that our Presidents and other political leaders aren't able to do this sort of thing more often, because of people who would do worse things than lounge on a bench, if they could. In a perfect world this would have been a non-event.

Very nice gesture! While I definitely don't agree with a lot of his policies, I cannot deny that the President does have a lot of supporters and is an outstanding person.
