(CNN) - Gov. Chris Christie is getting some compliments about his shrinking waist line.
After filing a complaint with Christie at a town hall Wednesday in Ocean County, New Jersey, one woman told the Republican governor he looks a lot "smaller."
"Let's not be totally unfair, I am much smaller now than I used to be," he said. "I used to be bigger."

A little over a year ago, Christie revealed that he underwent lap-band surgery a few months prior, in February 2013.
The governor, who's thinking about running for president, said Wednesday that his wife tells him he needs to buy new suits.
"But I'm on a budget," he added. "I gotta be careful, you know?"
Not long after that, another woman prefaced her question to the governor with some more affirmation.
"By the way, you do look fantastic," she said.
"God bless you," he said in return, as the audience applauded. "I love coming to Ocean County."

Christie's weight: Does it matter?
In February, he received a similar compliment at a town hall.
"Rome wasn't unbuilt in a day," he responded.
While he may be losing weight, he still gets ribbed from time to time about his size. Comedian Joel McHale made multiple jokes about the governor at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

CNN's Ashley Killough and Steve Kastenbaum contributed to this report.
this man is a complete joke, a silly man and any one that thinks this is the type of man it takes to run the country needs there head to be examined.
Diminished would be another way to describe Christie.
Vote for me. I'm smaller.
He's definitely smaller now. Also, it appears that he's lost some weight.
Smaller than what?
Wow, that's not a flattering photo, and not just his waistline. The posture, expression, etc........not exactly presidential. But hey, what does it matter what he looks like? The real question is can he run a bridge smoothly?
I feel sorry for anyone who struggles with weight. There are obviously issues that Christie needs to deal with before he can really become successful with his weight loss.
still wont vote for him
but not his ego
Good for him. It takes a lot of effort to slim down, even with surgery.
So that's his only success of his term? Even that was artificially induced.
Oh he's smaller....aw forget it – just too easy!
Of course Christy is smaller – that is what happens when go to the Jersey shore and stand in the water. That is what is called shrinkage. Seesh even George Costanza about shrinkage.
The dimocrats seem to working awfully hard to discredit someone that they say is already out of the race. Christie will probably be the next President of the United States of America.
Christie is guilty of mismanagement of funds (SANDY) He more than likely had a heavy hand in the Bridge problems and is a bully. He needs to be charged.
he looks just as big as he always has, IMO.
Poor Christie and McCain. Hillary can take 6 mo to recover from a brain injury and no longer see straight but you have a different standard
Be nice Joe Doherty. I mean, the American people did elect me...twice?
Is he going to use this to personify smaller government?
haha is he trying to say that size matters now – after all the centuries we have been hearing to the contrary? he IS a small man in every way and more. his significance is much smaller, thankfully.
It doesn't matter how small he is, I would not vote for the man because he threw his people under the bus for doing as he demanded. He let his own people take the fall. He is not to be trusted. Period.
I was the woman who told Governor Christie that he looked fantastic. I was at his 100th town hall meeting the year before at St. Mary's and what a difference a year made, it was quite noticeable his weight loss and he was looked good. Give credit where credit is due.
if you say something enough times you can actually believe it
but I for one do not see any difference
Good for Christie! I hope he runs for president. He'd be a refreshing change from the last 6 horrible years
So what Chris? Lots of people who aren't qualified to be dog catcher (like you) have lost weight. Good on ya for losing weight, but it doesn't make me want to vote for you.
