Obama's big environmental move: Demanding power plants cut carbon
(CNN) - President Barack Obama is using his executive authority to take his strongest action yet against climate change - proposing new EPA regulations.
The chief of the Environmental Protection Agency will announce a proposal Monday that would require power plants to cut their carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, a source briefed on the matter told CNN.
What the administration is really doing is an attempt to restore the environmental standards to what they were before GWB/Republicans gutted them in 2001. It used to be that a chemical tank required a berm of sufficient volume equivalent to the volume of the tank inside of it. A berm is a containment pit in case the tank ruptures. Now, that is no longer required. Had the had a sufficiently sized tank berm in West Virginia a couple of months ago, then that disastrous spill probably would not have spilled into the water supply.

(go figure) the Southern Company subsidiary, Mississippi Power, has a massive, state-of-the art power plant turning their local 'lignite' ( an element that is between peat and bituminous coal ) into a gas that burns much cleaner than older methods. Still a 'Works-In-Progress', but it's REAL.
The process was developed in Wilsonville, Alabama, by Power Systems Development Facility (PSDF), a research facility of the Department of Energy and The Southern Company.
Leading Technology out of Mississippi and Alabama. Who'd a thunk It??

The worst of the methane production from cattle comes from the feed-lot stage, where thousands of cattle are fattened in a small area, producing massive waste in solid, liquid and gaseous state. This process is now being tried in an enclosed space, where ALL forms of the waste can be recycled.

What would you have done differently? Remember, he was handed an economy in freefall. We losing 750,00 jobs per month, and the annual budget deficit was $1.5 trillion. We have positive private sector job growth for a few years, and the annual budget deficit has been cut by more than half.

It sure is great that Obama and the Democrats want to raise the minimum wage for people. They will need every cent of it to pay more to the governent and now far more to the electric company. The Messiah giveth and the Messiah taketh away. And after 5.5 years, still record unemployment and more and more job killing insanity.
We all know that coal is the fuel of the 19th and 20th century. Even the Chinese are beginning to convert to gas fired power generation of electricit power. There is nobody in their right mind, who thinks coal is in our future. How many citizens want a coal fired power plant in their back yard? Of course the limiting of emissions in going to cost plenty.....Yet nobody complains when we spend billions on new weapons systems to replace those that become have become obsolete. Well, coal is obsolete as a fuel for power yet emerging nations will still buy our coal so miners and operators, rail roads, container ship owners etc...will suffer little or no financial losses..neither will the manufacturers of scrubbing equipment...so tell me, who stands to gain for the continued pollution of our skys? What does this have to do with "Nanny"? This is a legislate exercise of constitutional executive power to regulate...of the police power. This has nothing to do with government "holding your hand". This has to do with government legitimately policing powerful industries in order to protect our interests, health and welfare where, if left without gov't to do it, we wouldn't be able to protect our interests for ourselves. Except this isn't going to create costs borne by the American people and will actually help save people money in the long-term. But don't take it from me: go look up what the expert economists are saying about it for your own self.
