Hillary Clinton to take part in live CNN town hall

Washington (CNN) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton  will take part in a live town hall meeting that will be moderated by CNN's Christiane Amanpour later this month.

The June 17 event will take place at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. and it will be the only network televised town hall that the former secretary of state participates in during the closely watched rollout of her new memoir, "Hard Choices."

In addition to Amanpour's questions, Clinton will "take questions from the American public with nothing off limits," according to a CNN statement announcing the event. The town hall will air on CNN at 5 p.m. ET and be simulcast on CNN International and CNN en Español. It will re-air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET.

CNN and Tumblr have teamed up for the first time to invite viewers worldwide to submit questions – in any form (text, video, animated gif) – via CNN’s event Tumblr, and Amanpour will pose some of the best to Clinton during CNN’s live broadcast.

Amanpour is CNN's chief international correspondent and anchor of "Amanpour," a nightly foreign affairs program on CNN International.

"Hard Choices" is Clinton's second memoir and tells the story of the former first lady's four years as America's top diplomat. It goes on sale June 10.

Clinton is widely seen as the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, and the former senator has acknowledged a number of times that she is weighing a second run for the White House.

Details of the book tour have slowly trickled out over the last two weeks, including announcements of other media interviews, excerpts from the memoir, and events across the United States and Canada.

On Monday, Barnes & Noble announced that the first event of Clinton's book tour will be a reading at its Union Square location in Manhattan on the day the memoir hits bookshelves. Clinton will sign copies of her new book at the event.

The bookseller also announced Monday that Clinton will appear at a similar book signing on June 19 in Los Angeles.

In addition to those two events, Clinton will appear at events in Austin, Texas; Arlington, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; Chicago and San Francisco.

Clinton will speak at two events in Canada: One at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto on June 16 and then two days later – on June 18 – Clinton will speak at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

What's behind stepped up GOP attacks on Clinton

Half in new poll disapprove of how Clinton handled Benghazi

The book is an important moment for Clinton as she weighs a presidential run. Critics have faulted Clinton's leadership at State – particularly her management of the 2012 attack on the American compound in Benghazi. Her supporters see the memoir as the best way for Clinton to rebut those claims.

A question for Mrs. Clinton: Why should I vote for you in 2016?

"Please give a detailed accounting of where you were, what you were doing, and what decisions you made during the attack on the Benghazi compound." Would that be off-limits?

I hope someone ask her why she voted for Bush's war and if she regrets doing that. Whether I consider voting for her in part depends on her answer.

It seems you liberals would even get fed up with these circumstances; the wealthy, connected people like Clinton will continue to enrich themselves and will be given a forum with which to do it, while politicking for the ultimate political ring!

I have no doubt that the questions will be approved by her, and given to her ahead of time, to ensure that she looks like the "smartest woman in the world"!

Of all the people Christiane Amanpour to be a Moderator!! What a joke! This woman only knows to attack people. No diplomacy, not skillful. ABC News could stand her. I stopped long time ago to watch her on CNN.

Wait, they're not going to filter the questions and audience like GOP meeting? How incredibly novel!

Since even her spokespeople can't name one actual, documented accomplishment, why should Clinton even have a town hall?

I bet this make Priebus and Rove quiver in their woman hating boots...You gotta love it that the Republican and Tea Party's who claim to be the Party's of Values and Morals, just can't quite see woman as equals. In this case Hillary rises above all the Republican an tea Party candidates that they have scraped from the bottom of the Outhouse.

Hillary seems to be knee-jerk apologist for Israel. I would ask her if that type of position will ever lead to a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian problem and other Mideast issues.

Its amazing to see how a candidate popular in the 90s has lost so much steem over the past decade and change. My question would ring along the lines...what is your plan to ensure Congress is more bipartisan? How would you stimulate a Congress that the American people could get behind? Well...thats two questions...

Truthfully speaking Hillary and the Liberals wouldn't have numerous Hard Choices to make if they hadn't passed the buck too many times in the past. The Liberal's didn't bother to make any fiscal choices but just spent like there was no tomorrow. The people voted for it now they are stuck with it. The people have a hard choice to make in the next and next election. Start the hard road back to fiscal sanity of continue passing the buck. There is nothing I need to hear from Hillary. Except goodbye.

Future President Hillary Clinton is one of the wisest leaders of our times and was widely praised around the world as one of the best Secretary of States in recent history.

She will make a great leader, following the success of President Obama. These are great times for America – winding down the last of the Bush Oil Genocides, record stock market and deficit reduction.

    Enjoy these times Americans!

    1. If Iran developed nuclear weapon capabilities, would you support Israel in military strikes against Iran?

    2. If north Korea developed nuclear weapon capability, would you give South Korea tactical nukes?

My question, "Why should anyone vote for a person that stole items from the White House, lied about being shot at when flying into Kabul, spent billions and accomplished nothing as Secretary of State, wouldn't answer simple questions about Benghazi, and is completely out of touch with the average American, e.g., she hasn't even driven a car in over 20 years?"

There have been many debates over individual states' rights versus the US government stepping in with Federal Law and federal programs.

Where do you draw the line on individual state rights? What should states be allowed to decide? and in what areas should the US government be allowed to impose laws and regulations over individual states' decision?
