Hillary Clinton to take part in live CNN town hall

Washington (CNN) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton  will take part in a live town hall meeting that will be moderated by CNN's Christiane Amanpour later this month.

The June 17 event will take place at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. and it will be the only network televised town hall that the former secretary of state participates in during the closely watched rollout of her new memoir, "Hard Choices."

In addition to Amanpour's questions, Clinton will "take questions from the American public with nothing off limits," according to a CNN statement announcing the event. The town hall will air on CNN at 5 p.m. ET and be simulcast on CNN International and CNN en Español. It will re-air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET.

CNN and Tumblr have teamed up for the first time to invite viewers worldwide to submit questions – in any form (text, video, animated gif) – via CNN’s event Tumblr, and Amanpour will pose some of the best to Clinton during CNN’s live broadcast.

Amanpour is CNN's chief international correspondent and anchor of "Amanpour," a nightly foreign affairs program on CNN International.

"Hard Choices" is Clinton's second memoir and tells the story of the former first lady's four years as America's top diplomat. It goes on sale June 10.

Clinton is widely seen as the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, and the former senator has acknowledged a number of times that she is weighing a second run for the White House.

Details of the book tour have slowly trickled out over the last two weeks, including announcements of other media interviews, excerpts from the memoir, and events across the United States and Canada.

On Monday, Barnes & Noble announced that the first event of Clinton's book tour will be a reading at its Union Square location in Manhattan on the day the memoir hits bookshelves. Clinton will sign copies of her new book at the event.

The bookseller also announced Monday that Clinton will appear at a similar book signing on June 19 in Los Angeles.

In addition to those two events, Clinton will appear at events in Austin, Texas; Arlington, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; Chicago and San Francisco.

Clinton will speak at two events in Canada: One at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto on June 16 and then two days later – on June 18 – Clinton will speak at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

What's behind stepped up GOP attacks on Clinton

Half in new poll disapprove of how Clinton handled Benghazi

The book is an important moment for Clinton as she weighs a presidential run. Critics have faulted Clinton's leadership at State – particularly her management of the 2012 attack on the American compound in Benghazi. Her supporters see the memoir as the best way for Clinton to rebut those claims.

Considering we already had eight years of a president who was elected with zero business experience and had never made payroll why should we yet again vote for the same. The USA needs jobs and lots of them. What exactly does Hillary know about job creation? or what it's like to be a small business owner which are the largest job creators in the country. All we here about are social programs and writing wrongs and such. We never hear of organic job creation.

Where does it state that the President has to have a business background? And why does the government have to be run like a business? A business can fire employees when there are too many employees for the given demand. Our government doesn't have the option of firing citizens. Are you arguing that it should?

No single person has all the background and experience needed to be 100% knowledgeable in all the inner facets of our society. I don't expect the president to have this background or experience. I do expect the president to appoint cabinet members, advisers and the like who do have this knowledge and experience.

"The only thing "off limits", apparently, is giving them answers they don't want to hear or that are contrary to their pre-determined conclusions. When you do that, they just pretend no answer was given and run around yelling "cover up.""

Oh...almost forgot...and then the MSM reports their claims of a cover up without reporting the answer that was given.

""Please give a detailed accounting of where you were, what you were doing, and what decisions you made during the attack on the Benghazi compound." Would that be off-limits?

Was it off limits the last 100 times she answered it?"

Do you believe it is about time for a constitutional amendment to allow initiative and referendum, Yes/NO.?
If Yes will you make it a platform item, Yes/No?
Bill had, for a short time, line item veto, should this be an amendment to the constitution, Yes/No? Will it be on your platform, Yes/No?
the founding fathers envisioned 1 member of congress for every 50,000 voters, do you believe more members of congress should exist? (yes the house is already in disaray, but this would but house members closer to constitents)
    Should gerrymandering be illegal, yes/no?

This Benghazi rant is quite normal, at least not that many killed, while lies of two Wars, Afghanistan, Iraq killed thousands of innocent, soldiers and looted by Haliburton contracts–now Cheney, Bush enjoying those fruits and happily relaxing in Crawford Texas. Stop this Benghazi bs. Yes, on Hillary16.

Never heard of it. What difference does it make at this point? The war has been over for nearly 70 years. Over the long term, such a development will probably save the U.S. billions of dollars.

Indeed. And how do you do that? You dangle giant advertising payments in front of them from AFP, get them hooked on it and then threaten to take it away whenever the reporting strays a little to far into actual journalism.

Only problem I have with Hillary is that I'm sick of "political dynasties". We had one Clinton and two Bushes already. Is no one else qualified to do this job? I'd rather have Elizabeth Warren on the ticket, since she can answer questions intelligently, and doesn't carry the baggage that Hillary does. And she's not a "corporate" Democrat. If I were a Republican, I can't think of a single candidate for that party right now. None of the potential front-runners behave rationally. Ron Paul has a few ideas that I think are good (anti-interventionist, thinks the drug war was a big failure), and then goes off the deep end crazy with zero regulations on business and going back to the gold standard.

Wow – the Republicans with Benghazi Americans blood on their hands (GOP voted 3 times to deny security to that embassy) are the same Republicans who say we should've let our POW die in captivity.

I guess only some American lives are worth anything to a Republican. I wonder if John McCain feels we should've let him die in that Vietnamese prison?

Vile folks today's GOP – no wonder they've dropped to 8% membership.

So how do you get tickets to this town hall? Is it going to be invitation only? Only certified brain dead leftists allowed? I can hardly wait to hear all the real tough questions like "So how does it feel to be a Grandmother in waiting?" and "Have you bought any new pants suits lately?" or maybe "I like what you have done with your hair, where do you get it done?"

I would ask Hillary if she still agrees with her vote to invade Iraq.

The Senate Democrats could have stopped the invasion if they had the resolve of the current republicans, who try to stop everything President Obama does.

A recent comment on this topic referred to the Dixie Chicks. This chart-topping female country band from Texas sacrificed their career to speak out against W and cheney's senseless invasion of Iraq. If only Hillary and the Senate Dems at the time had the courage of Natalie Maines and her band.

I know, it was W and cheney's war, promoted by repubs. But a few good Senators could have stopped it from happening. I don't vote for republicans anyway; I vote for Democrats. And I hold them accountable when they fail our country with their gutless ways.

I would be interested in knowing how Hillary now views her decision.

Just be sure to be fair and balanced. Ask the same questions of the GOTP candidates and their eventual nominee. So far, the GOTP field looks like is might have its' own share of reruns, beginning with Perry and Santorum.
