Under Christie's chairmanship, RGA shatters fundraising record

By: Mark Preston

Washington (CNN) - The Republican Governors Association has raised $50 million since Chris Christie took over as head of the political organization, shattering the previous six-month fundraising record by $25 million, an RGA official tells CNN.

Christie, the New Jersey governor who is eyeing a 2016 White House run, took over the RGA following the 2013 election and has been crisscrossing the country raising money and campaigning for GOP candidates. The RGA official tells CNN that the organization has "nearly $70 million cash on hand … nearly double the cash on hand figure the RGA had at this point in 2010."

Republicans must defend 22 governorships, 8 more than Democrats in November. The GOP currently has a 29-21 advantage over Democrats in terms of governorships held.

Yes. He shattered something alright. And it ain't his obesity problem. Look, the guy should just be what he is: a moderate, reasonable Republican. But because he wants to appease extremists in his party he is willing to disparage his credentials for the sake of a nomination for POTUS? Can he not take a lesson from Romney? Being a charlatan during primaries (to win the base) and expecting to switch to a moderate position (to win Independents) for the general election just does not work. See all the successful winners for POTUS, Christie. Obama is not perfect, neither have all the previous PsOTUS. Sigh.
And for Fair is Fair, I think you need to come over to the Independents side. Where's Dominican Mama for Obama? Sniffit and Rudy, NYC–where are y'all tonight? Gurgyl? Anyway...have a great Thursday night everyone.

Fatboy can forget about it. Now that they have been CRUSHED by Turtle McConnell, can't wait to see Thom Tillis,Sheldon Adelson,Rupert Mourdoch, Karl Rove,Grover Norquist and the GOP stuff Jeb Bush down the tea party's throats EXACTLY like they stuffed Romney down.

I think the least the Governor could do would be to send a thank you note to the Democrats and MSNBC for all the free publicity. After all, if it weren't for their obsession with a non story, most Americans wouldn't even know who Chris Christie was.

The koch brothers and adelson are not leaving their heirs any money.
Just watching our President speak in France then you come to this site and continue to be amazed how a handful of men can try to buy our country instead of doing what's right for it and work together to make it better.

It has less to do with Christie and more to do with court decisions that permit more money to be poured into campaigns.

Hasn't this $50 million been floated around earlier this spring? Say in March or so? Not that I care; it simply sounds like a repeat of an earlier article CNN produced courtesy of the RGA a few months ago.

Christie shatters things all right. Among other things, he also shattered New Jersey’s puiblic employees’ retirement plans and pension funds.

It's so odd that the gang wants due process for Bergdahl yet they have convicted Christie without giving him his due process. So weird.

Christie2016 will go over about as well as Guiliani2008. Chris and Rudy both know plenty of wealthy donors, which, for the time being, does not equate to votes on election night. Speaking of polls, Christie doesn't score well in most of them, particularly with the red states, just like Giuliani.

In Massachusetts, we called independents "unenrolled", and that is exactly my status. There are many topics I agree with the left on, but the ones most important to me personally I find myself diametrically opposed to the left's view, which is why I tend to lean right.

No, tom I. Beyond a few snaky comments directed at Christie's public statements, I've been very clear that I can wait for the legal process to run its coarse on Christie.

There he goes again, placing words in peoples' mouths, or "accidently-intentionally" misinterpreting what people say.

Oh, no Tom, no one here has convicted Mr. Christie, so knock that snarky silliness off- the investigation is ongoing as you are obviously aware. If there is sufficient evidence nature will run it's course. What we do have is a real live crime (an interstate one no less) that happened on Mr. Christie's watch and so a real scandal, but at this point no guilty parties identified.

    But, please, continue.....

    =========================================================
Of course, he's surprised. The "gang" is using known facts, which is something he's apparently not familiar with. The right doesn't have any facts about Bergdahl. Sorry, interviews by right wing bloggers with military personnel don't count for squat.

BTW. The "gang" hasn't convicted Christie of anything. People consistently say let the process play itself out.
