Hillary Clinton on releasing medical records: 'I would do what other candidates have done'

Washington (CNN) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has been dogged by Republican questions about her health and age as she mulls a run at the presidency in 2016, told ABC in an interview on Friday that her health is "very good."

Clinton added that she had "no lingering effects" from a late-2012 health scare in which she suffered a blood clot as the result of a fall. Karl Rove, the well-known Republican strategist, questioned whether Clinton was healthy enough to run for president, something the former first lady is admittedly considering.

If she runs, Clinton said she would release her medical records.

"I would do what other candidates have done, absolutely," she told ABC's Diane Sawyer in a clip that aired Friday. The full interview, which is part of Clinton's upcoming memoir tour, will air on Monday, June 9, the day before "Hard Choices" hits bookshelves.

In the interview, Clinton described the fall and the recovery at length.

"It was, I think, a serious concussion," Clinton said. "Because of the force of the fall, I had double vision for a short period of time and I had some dizziness."

She said she did not have headaches or any trouble talking.

Because of Clinton's history of blood clots - she suffered a large blood clot behind her right knee and was rushed to Bethesda Naval Hospital outside Washington in 1998 - the former senator said she will probably be on blood thinners for the rest of her life.

Clinton also responded to questions about Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier who was held by the Taliban for five years. The Obama administration traded five detainees from the prison in Guantanamo Bay for the soldier. Some have questioned the circumstances around Bergdahl's capture, and the prisoner trade has raised a number of questions among lawmakers and pundits.

Clinton, however, backed the trade in the interview.

"If you look at what the factors were going into the decision, of course there are competing interests and values," she said. "And one of our values is we bring everybody home off the battlefield the best we can. It doesn't matter how they ended up in a prisoner of war situation."

She added, "It doesn't matter. We bring our people home."

In the three-minute clip, Clinton also took on multiple Republican critics of her age and health.

Clinton has no ill words for Rove, President George W. Bush's close aide and senior adviser.

"I know he was called Bush's brain in one of the books written about him and I wish him well," Clinton said with a laugh.

Clinton joked about a comment made by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said the Democratic field in 2016 looks like "a rerun of the 'Golden Girls,'" a 1980s sitcom about older women who were divorced or widowed.

"That was a very popular, long-running TV series," she said.

"I would do what other candidates have done, absolutely". And what might that be ? Deny release based on a precedent? If you're going to release them, say so ! Quit screwing around with the double speak.

This lady would make such a fabulous President. Intelligent, sense of humor, strength, experience, personality. . . and the list goes on. I can't see anyone coming close to her in the election if she chooses to run.

Regardless of her decision, she's the best qualified. Why she'd want the job is beyond comprehension, but if she runs, I hope she wins and wins big. I Mean BIG.

Her brain scan would be interesting to look at. wouldn't take long, but interesting to say the least.

Clinton, however, backed the trade in the interview. She added, "It doesn't matter. We bring our people home."
Kind of like the Benghazi?? Is that what she means? They didn't matter either, what difference does it make, Really.

She said she did not have headaches or any trouble talking.
Haaa, well that depends on who you talk to. LOL

Some members of our media were quick to distance Mrs. Clinton from the Bowe Bergdahl exchange. Where did they go for that information? From a liberal website, and Hillary supporters who were trying to protect her. If they had waited, they would have learned Mrs. Clinton is actually defending swap.

It is funny GOPpers keep pushing this (false) "why does she keep falling" and " 30 days in hospital" story as some sort of gospel- it is, by easy research just another lie. Funnier yet, remember just how protective they were of Mr. Romney? Remember how bad it looked when his $50k a week income would up with only a 13% income tax rate?

Essentially, unlike all presidential candidates of the last 60 years, Americans are still waiting on Mr. Romney's tax refunds.

At this point, Ms. Clinton isn't even a declared candidate- the GOP has plenty of time for their character assassination program.

Shame on our media for not apologizing for misleading their viewers when they first reported that Mrs. Clinton was not in favor of the Bowe Bergdahl exchange. We know from her own words, (not the words of a liberal website or her supporters) that she is defending the swap. Our media has jumped the shark. And has no decency to admit they wrong.

China has revealed that more than 1,000 officials in the southern province of Guangdong have spouses or children living abroad.

China's communist leaders want to stamp out the practice because they believe it is linked to corruption.

The practice is not illegal but gives corrupt officials a route to send abroad any money obtained illegally.

Now I understand why all the homes on the west coast are being sold to Mainland Chinese for CASH !

Well if Hil. Clinton is smart she won`t have anything to do with Susan Rice. Anyone who brags about aiding radical sunni terrorist in Syria, saying its good foreign policy is beyond dumb. Rice spewed fodder about Benghazi and now Bergdahl. This women has no creditability left.

Romney's problem was that most likely his returns would have showed that his tax returns were legally done; however they probably would have showed a tax rate of under 10% for millions in income. He would have had to explain even more, why wealthy people like him who already have single digit tax rates because of deductions only a few can use, need even more tax breaks.

This is why you guys are struggling to find candidates. Medical records are confidential for a reason – so patients can feel comfortable talking openly with their doctors. The doctors who go along with the public release of them should be struck off.

p.s. It's also se.xist to ask a woman to release her ob/gyn records in what is effectively a job interview.

Don't say it loudly Hillary otherwise republicans will turn to you in a forceful way. At least this week they have forgotten you a little bit because of Bowe Bergdahl.

Care to take a guess how many Republicans tweeted congrats to Bowe (including women) and his family and then withdrew them as soon as the GOTP said "Thou Shalt Not." What a bunch of cowardly............
