Clinton blasts opponents of immigration reform
Chicago (CNN) – Hillary Clinton took a break from her frenetic book tour on Tuesday and blasted people who opposed immigration reform during a speech to two food producing trade organizations in Chicago.
The speech to the United Fresh Produce Association and the Food Marketing Institute was dramatically different than Clinton's earlier book signing in New York City. At a Manhattan Barnes & Noble earlier in the day, Clinton was flanked by devotees who waited overnight for her to sign her new book. In Chicago, Clinton was met with a less enthusiastic crowd of mostly food company employees and representatives, some of whom left before he speech was over.

In the biggest applause line of the night, Clinton said she believes "strongly in immigration reform" but has been "somewhat bewildered" by the immigration debate in Washington.
"Everybody I talk to personally, Democratic and Republican alike in the leadership of both houses, know we have to have immigration reform," Clinton said. "Part of the strength of the vitality of our economy is the fact that people still want to come to this country, make their stake, prove themselves."
Clinton went on to blast people who "are scared because there is a small minority of people in public life and those they represent who don't seem to understand one of our strongest and most important attributes is that we are still a nation of immigrants."
Clinton was interviewed on stage by Stuart Resnick, the founder of Wonderful Brands and a Clinton supporter, who noted that the agriculture and food production industry was overall supportive of immigration reform.
Immigration reform, despite passing the Senate last year and being named one of President Barack Obama's top priorities for his second term, has seen very little movement in the House of Representatives.
Late in 2013, House Speaker John Boehner insisted that while immigration reform was "absolutely not" dead, he had "no intention" of negotiating with the Democratic-led Senate over its comprehensive immigration proposal. Many Republicans want to pass immigration in smaller bills, not one large bill.
Clinton has long been a supporter of immigration reform, but Tuesday night's remarks were some of her most outspoken attacks on people who oppose the bill.
In April, when asked by an undocumented immigrant at an event in New York about the bill, Clinton said she was a "huge supporter of immigration reform and a path to citizenship and will continue to advocate for that."
While Clinton spoke at length about her book, "Hard Choices," which hit bookshelves on Tuesday, the event was not part of her book tour. It was planned before the book's release date was announced, said organizers, who said they got lucky on the timing.
Clinton's book tour break won't be long, however. On Wednesday she heads to a Chicago Ideas Week event where she will talk about her book with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a longtime Clinton aide and supporter.

Immigration reform? Tell that to the people in Arizona that are currently dealing with thousands of illegals that have been dumped there by Enforcement Agents who refuse to do their job. Un accompanied children sent across the Border by the thousands. Time for a massive roundup of all illegals and returning them to their own country.
The sticking point is always the question of a path to citizenship which is the part of the issue that directly effects the politicians. Both sides see 10 million potential new democrats, and that is their top priority. The dems should offer to pass a comprehensive plan without the pass to citizenship, just to make the pubbers prove where they really stand. If a plan were passed and worked out well, in a few years the whole attitude on citizenship might change.
The actual illegal immigrants are a lot more interested in not being deported than they are in becoming US citizens.
This sounds like a job for Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz .

You've been asleep too long. The majority of US citizens and Republicans are in favor of updating immigration laws and enforcing them. The same groups are against the non sensible ' Obama immigration reform' which is amnesty and rewarding of criminals, while discriminating against lawful immigrants who are waiting in line.
Why are you supporting criminals and double standards?

We must all remember one thing about Mrs. Clinton if she runs for President, she doesn't know the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration. Yes this Country is A Country of LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, That is the one thing liberal Democrats seem to forget. What is "immigration reform" to A U.S. Citizen and taxpayer? Its simply amnesty for 15 million criminals that are in our Country illegally and would allow millions of foreign workers into this country to compete with U.S. Citizens for jobs. We have A Government that simply doesn't enforce the laws we have now and the U.S. Citizens and their children will pay dearly for the"immigration reform" that Clinton wants, she was speaking for the benefit of her rich donors, she doesn't care about the working taxpaying Citizens of the U.S.
Your boat is sinking. A conservative wants to plug the holes, a lot of work, a tough job, but necessary. The liberal suggests a fast way – drill holes in the bottom of the boat to let the water out. Same dumb logic about immigration. If we, as a country, can't keep our borders secure, what's the point of working immigration reform. The flood into our country will continue until we're sunk. The first and biggest problem is to stop the leaks. And we are sinking under a flood of illegals.

The immigration issue could be resolved fairly quickly if the Dems would quit trying to hand out citizenship to the illegals. Their effort to buy more Democrats is pathetic.

They (government Obama) lets all illegals come to America because they are his strongest supporter and this is the reason he gives all to the. He will take more money from the Social Security monies, cut money to senior who has spent a lifetime working and now must be on social security. The children come, he is now using our military bases for them to stay in at the cost of $252 per day per child per week per child =$1,764, per month per child = $7,056 and per year for each child = $84,672...now multiply it for 90,000 new illegal children annually. I am on social security, had been working since I was 17, went out on disability in 2007, what I thought was surgar drop level in my blood turned out to be mini strokes, and I live on $11,544 a month and support two adult family member. I believe it is wrong for this to happen, we have so many homeless families because of no employment, we have 58,000 homeless veterans without employment, or even a pillow and blanket to cover up with. America needs to take care of her own. We can not handle the overflow of a corrupt and bad governments..we have too many starving people here in the states that need help

They are sending their crime and poverty to this nation to crush the American citizen taxpayer and their children's future. This government has no authority to steal hard earned tax dollars for illegal foreigners. Whatever social services there are in this nation are supposed to go to helping our elderly, veterans, unemployed and truly disabled; not illegal foreigners. Taxpayers in this nation are struggling to take care of their own families. The real humanitarian crisis is that our own children and people are being robbed and pushed aside in their own nation; and their standard of living is being stolen; by their own government acting outside the law. Our immigration laws state these people are supposed to be deported. This administration caused all of this with the dreamer garbage; and refusing to deport illegal aliens. Our government unleashed tens of thousands or more outright murderers, kidnappers, rapists, home invaders, etc. on the general American public. No other nation in this world destroys and ignores it's own sovereignty and immigration laws for illegal invaders who care nothing except for their own selves.
I have friends and family working in Social Services who are disgusted by the fact they have been instructed they can never ask immigration status when people come to the office now. A family of 5 comes in.. have no paperwork... and automatically get housing vouchers, WIC and food stamps adding up to more annual benefits than my friends and family earn working their jobs. As much as $40,000 to $50,000 in combined benefits in some cases. Then they walk outside and get in their new Toyota truck and get free medical treatment at the local hospital.
So now we have everybody thinking the SOLUTION for illegal immigration is to REWARD that illegal conduct with amnesty and citizenship? I can't believe I have lived to see this lunacy in America. Heck .. why have any laws at all? Let’s just tell people they can do anything they want with no consequences.
Obama's own illegal aunt and DUI-arrested illegal uncle continue to STEAL from the American taxpayers all their free food, free housing, free medical, and $750/month play money for doing nothing at all! Thank heavens she recently passed away so part of that will stop. On top of all that, we are also FORCED to pay for Secret Service protection as these criminals continue to commit their multiple crimes. When his illegal uncle was stopped and arrested on a DUI, the first thing he arrogantly said to the officers was, "I'm calling the White House." They are immune and specially protected and they flaunt it – while we PAY for it!
Put "minority" down as your status on all your paperwork for school or home. They can't say you aren't – and if it's good enough for Elizabeth Warren, the Democrat, to get a job she wasn't qualified for, then it's good enough for the rest of us! When EVERYONE claims it, then the government will have no choice but to give the same treatment to everyone or no one! Then only QUALIFICATIONS will matter; not race. NO PREFERENCES to ILLEGALS.
And remember, when it comes time for layoffs, if you list yourself as a "minority," you will not be among the ones to go out the door no matter how badly you perform at your job - courtesy of the DEMOCRATS!!!
The horrendous influx of illegals will hit the law-abiding taxpayers as they overwhelm every Emergency Room and hospital for free medical care, free housing, free food and free education. Let them work and fight and sacrifice in their own country instead of STEALING from what our citizens and military, some of whom have died to sacrifice, have worked for so hard!
