Hillary Clinton says Rand Paul will be 'fair game'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton responded to Sen. Rand Paul's recent argument that Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky is a liability to Democrats as well as a potential White House run by Hillary Clinton.

In an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer that aired Monday night, the former first lady was asked about his remarks.

"He can talk about whatever he wants to talk about," Clinton responded. "And if he decides to run, he'll be fair game too."

Paul, a Kentucky Republican, has said this year that former President Clinton's history is a major splinter in the eye for Democrats as they've argued that the GOP is waging a war on women.

"They can't have it both ways. And so I really think that anybody who wants to take money from Bill Clinton or have a fundraiser has a lot of explaining to do. In fact, I think they should give the money back," he said in an interview with C-SPAN.

"If they want to take position on women's rights, by all means do," Paul continued. "But you can't do it and take it from a guy who was using his position of authority to take advantage of young women in the workplace."

In an interview with CNN's Mark Preston, Paul said last month that Bill Clinton "harassed people."

“He was sued multiple times for it, so yes, I think what he did was absolutely inappropriate," he continued. "Is that being a predator? I don’t know how you want to define it but the thing is, most people would say that it’s contemptible.”

Paul's wife, Kelley, said in a Vogue article last year that if Hillary Clinton becomes the next president, Bill Clinton's history with Lewinsky "should complicate his return to the White House, even as First Spouse."

Asked on "Meet the Press" in January if Bill Clinton's past should be a consideration in a potential bid by Hillary Clinton, Paul said he's "not saying that," but "sometimes it's hard to separate one from the other."

As Paul considers a White House bid of his own, he has taken repeated shots at Clinton over her handling of the 2012 terror attack on a U.S. compound in Benghazi while she was secretary of state.

A Washington Post/ABC News poll released Sunday indicated that if the election were held today, Hillary Clinton would best Paul, 53%-43%, among registered voters nationwide in a hypothetical matchup.

I really don't see what the big deal is, lot's of women choose to stay with their cheating husband. That is between her, Bill and God. Whatever her motives were for staying, that is her right to stay and forgive him. Wonder how many on this blog have found themselves in the same situation and chose to stay????

"Bringing up Monica Lewinsky will just make any candidate look pathetic."

Good gracious yes ! Lewinski is what ... 40 years old now?

Rand Paul really ought to have himself grown up by now.

Thank you Laverne! Women forgive their cheating husbands way more than people admit. And what about their daughter? I know people that hate each other who stay together for the sake of the kids. But now the party of family values says that's wrong. Hypocrites!

Rand not as much as your problems of practicing medicine without a license and believing that it is okay to turn away people of color for medical treatment. Not as much as you not believing in civil rights for everyone. Man get a grip, you will never be president. The only way you wil get to the white house is if only peoeple of color are banished from America, and I don't see that happening.

Senator Paul has a lot of young and tech-savy voters in his camp. Obama's disasterous health care web premiere struck home with these "folks"-plus the silly penalities for not signing up, even if they could. That, and Benghazi, plus age, is Hillary Clinton's baggage, plus, now(!) this stupid remark about being "dead broke" leaving the White House.
"Dead broke" to a number of young voters with jobs still means
living at home with parents or roommates
they tolerate, not book, as with the Clintons, , whose legal fees were their own fault, and who had 15million(him) and 8 million
advance(her) as soon as they vacated.

No, Hillary, "dead broke" people are not where you, your husband, or, worse, Obama
ever visit: Silicon Valley, Wall St, Palm Beach, Martha's Vineyard, Beverly Hills-
Are Not Detroit, Oakland, and our borders, which your crowd ignores.

    Fair game? Well, like Monica!

Book advances as soon as they left. as

So Hillary states she can identify with struggling americans because they were "flat broke" as she puts it, when they left the Whitehouse.
Does anyone believe they were really broke? If you do, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.
But now,for arguments sake, lets say they were broke OK? Do you think for one second they had no money or home to move to? Or that they didnt know they would immediately begin earnng 200K per speach and would begin to earn greater than 10 million per year upon exiting the Whitehouse? So this is how you compare yourself to the financially struggling americans? Saddest part of all this is the unsophisticated voter who is hurting, lost their job or home and pension will believe this nonsense and vote for her thinking she had undergone the same trauma. Please Hillary, ambition is a wonderful thing but you are a sickeningly over the top, lying, scheming person, willing to say or do anything to feed your own ego.

Using Lewinsky as an attack just goes to show how desperate the GOP really is. Use Benghazi, Egypt, Syria and argue the position and substance but leave Lewinsky out of it.

I'm sure Hillary wants to go after Rand Paul after he skewered her over her 'dead broke' comment. Paul pointed to Hillary Clinton’s $8 million book deal that she signed before the pair left the White House–as well as reports of the couples net worth of over $100 million.

“The sad song of her reporting her personal financial difficulties and the fact that she hasn’t driven herself in a car in 17 years, it doesn’t sound like she’s going to connect with a lot of the Middle Class,” she said.

The Clintons have no idea what so many Americans are facing, have faced, since the economy tanked. We lost jobs, cars, homes, savings, etc., and we are not recovering. The Clintons have a net worth that rivals the Romneys. Hillary hasn't a clue what dead broke means.

“I think she’s going to have some surprises when she gets out of her limousine and meets the American people,” Paul said.

Then there's that thing we all know; getting Hillary elected amounts to Bill's 3rd term. Everyone knows Hillary could not do the job of President. Look how she botched being Sec of State. What has she accomplished? Oh yeah, nothing.
But Bill was a very popular President. He has a pretty good record of getting things done, working across the aisle, and he left office with a budget surplus. He has the morals of a hound dog, but so did JFK, and MLK. A lot of people want to Bill Clinton back in office.

What I find absolutely; horrible about this is, there were conservative pastors and people praying for harm to best the Clinton's, Its interesting; that not one; not even one of the conservative religious right wing ever has mentioned, or acknowledged the fact, that in spit the incredible miss -judgment on Bill Clinton's behave. The Clinton's still honored their marital vows, “for better or for worse" they stayed together and worked out their marital problems and difficulties; in spite of horrendous political and public obstacles, pressures. This should be an example to America; that regardless of your marital problems, you can work them out, too resolve them and survive the obstacle. Yet it’s interesting that We elected a divorced man as President; Ronald Regan; Nancy was his second wife.No one made an issue out of it.

Any mention of what Bill Clinton did is an affront to decency itself to the one injured, and will earn the mentioner the enmity of all such as Mrs. Clinton who have themselves been so humiliated and hurt by those so ungracious as to somehow attempt to smear the injured party due to the acts of others. I sincerely believe Paul will lose many more votes if he takes this approach than he will gain by doing so. He would certainly lose my vote. It will just make him look like some kind of insensitive, smarmy frat boy.

For Paul to bring up Lewinsky shows that he isn't really living in the real world. That was quite a while ago and done with Bill Clinton and not Hillary. Does it make sense that Hillary would do that with an intern in the White House? I can't see what Bill did would affect Hillary. Policy decisions and thought patterns is a different issue.

Hillary has so many skeletons in her there's not a grave yard big enough to bury all of the corpses. She is DOA. I'm happy the Democrats have no one else. When she has a mental break down during the debates it will be epic. #hillarycantstandwithRAND
