CNN/ORC Poll: Clinton tops Obama on every issue

What do you want to ask Hillary Clinton? Send your questions here and CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour might ask it during CNN's town hall meeting with Clinton at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday at the Newseum in Washington.

Washington (CNN) - If Hillary Clinton is elected president in 2016, most Americans say they think she will do a good job handling crucial domestic and international issues, according to a new national poll.

And the CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that the former secretary of state scores much higher than President Barack Obama on every issue tested.

"That's helpful to her chances of actually getting elected if it holds up through 2016," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "It suggests that the President's low marks on most issues might not drag Clinton down if she runs for the White House again."

How enthusiastic are Democrats about Clinton as nominee?

Clinton served as America's top diplomat during Obama's first four years in office, so it may not be surprising that some of her best marks in the poll come on overseas issues: 63% say she would do a good job on foreign policy and 61% say the same on terrorism.

But it is notable that 63% say she'd do a good job handling the economy, and 57% believe she'd handle health care well.

Now compare those to Obama's latest job approval ratings on those same issues.

Just 38% questioned in the CNN poll say that they approve of how the President's handling the economy. That's 25 percentage points lower than the number who think Clinton would do a good job on the economy. Only 40% approve of Obama's foreign policy, 23 points lower than Clinton.

The same is true on other issues that have made headlines recently, including gun policy, the environment, and immigration.

"In fact, a majority think Clinton would do a good job on all nine issues tested in the poll; Obama's current job approval rating never breaks 50% on any of those same nine issues. None of this means that Clinton is a lock for the White House, but it is an enviable position for any candidate to be in," adds Holland.

The poll was conducted for CNN by ORC International May 29-June 1, before the rollout of Clinton's new memoir, "Hard Choices." In the survey, 1,003 adults nationwide were questioned by telephone. The poll's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

The same people that are saying Hillary could be the greatest President in American history, said the same thing about Obama...TWICE.

Republican political operatives must be shaking their heads in fear and frustration at Hillary's high poll numbers. Hillary haters will always be in denial that their greatest fear is about to happen, a big Hillary presidential win in 2016.

It doesn't matter which Democrat is President. Republicans will always say that they're not good enough and vice versa. That's why this country is sick. No one wants to work together for a better America for Americans.

There you go, promote Clinton because she is a female. But always remember that she left 4 Americans to die and then she managed to sell to the weak that she was not aware of them asking for help, it's her job to know if here people are in need of help and support saying it was someone else it just they way the Democrats have accepted and trained their followers to take it.

No buyers remorse here. I'd vote for President Obama again and the only reason I'm supporting Hillary is because she can smash any GOP er she runs against. After 5 years of lies and disrespect shown this POTUS and his family, I'd support Lucifer if he ran as a democrat. I also love how scared the mostly male GOP are of an intelligent woman in a pantsuit. 😊😊😊

There is a LOT of time between now and 2016, but you Dems keep on congratulating yourself. You also saw Obama as the next savior, and look how HE'S done. Only blind Obamabots think he actually has the skills to be an effective President. He's a great speaker, but sadly that's about all he is and even more sadly, that's about all you liberals needed to see to elect him. Hillary is a career politician, so yes she has time in the game. But has she done anything really effective to distinguish herself? Nope. And it's frankly very funny to listen to Hillary supporters try to come up with accomplishments...the things they mention are unimpressive and reaching in the extreme. Like I said, you go ahead and keep assuming she's The One...a lot of things can happen over the next 2 1/2 years.

Hillary gets to share in Obama's foreign policy accomplishments, which nobody can seem to list.

There needs to be a reply button for specific posts.... but, to "Wake Up People! Many Rivers to cross" That is the stupidest reason to vote for someone EVER. Are you a party sheep? If Adolf Hitler were alive and a Democrat, would you vote for him just because of his party?

We the sheeple should vote for the best PERSON....... NOT THE PARTY

Please compare the two when Hillary will be in her second term as President. Otherwise, you may look unreasonable to make a comparison that doesn't make any sense.

Just shows how fickle the American People are, the medical issues is a grand example.. Now they say she would do a better job on health care, Really it was killed in the Clinton era.. I am a fan of both of these terrific people, President Obama has had to deal with items never before seen in a Presidency, starting with the current GOP.
