Obama has 'fundamental' set of options on Iraq
Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama has a "fundamental" set of options for a military response to the crisis in Iraq, a White House official told CNN Monday. The options could be tweaked or changed somewhat, the official added.
The President's entire national security team spent much of the weekend urgently preparing options for potential military action against the militant group ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, senior administration officials said. Obama will review those options with national security officials Monday evening, incoming press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
Clinton gives hope to both sides of Keystone debate
Washington (CNN) – Hillary Clinton didn't say Monday what she thinks the U.S. State Department should do on the Keystone XL pipeline, but the former secretary of state did give hope to both sides of the debate over the 1,179-mile-long project that would move oil from Canada to refineries in the United States.
Both pro- and anti-pipeline activists, for which there are many, will hear positive notes from Clinton's remarks at the Toronto event. While tweaking and heralding both positions, Clinton said she hoped the United States and Canada would not "put our relationship on the backs of this decision."
Poll: Congress gets record low approval rating in midterm year
(CNN) - A new Gallup survey indicates that the congressional approval rating has dropped to its lowest point ever–16%–in a midterm election year since such ratings were first measured by the organization in 1974.
That sets the stage for potentially big turnover this fall in Congress. Gallup notes that in midterm years when the congressional job approval is low, there tends to be more shake-up at the voting booths.

Washington (CNN) - If Hillary Clinton is elected president in 2016, most Americans say they think she will do a good job handling crucial domestic and international issues, according to a new national poll.
And the CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that the former secretary of state scores much higher than President Barack Obama on every issue tested.
