Michelle Obama: Woman president should happen ASAP

(CNN) - Michelle Obama said Monday she's "definitely" not jumping into politics, but suggested the United States might not be too far away from having its first woman commander in chief.

Asked at the Washington event if she would consider a political career once her husband leaves the White House in 2017, Mrs. Obama gave a flat no.

But, she said, a woman president "should happen as soon as possible."

"And I think this country is ready," she added.

"The person who should do the job is the person who's the most qualified. And we have some options, don't we?" she said, stoking further speculation that Hillary Clinton could fill the role if she decides to run.

Mrs. Obama, the self-proclaimed "mom-in-chief," also said at a summit focused on work-family policies that she doesn't care what kind of job her teenage daughters get - just as long as it pays.

Mrs. Obama was asked by ABC's Robin Roberts at the event to expand on comments she and President Barack Obama made in a recent interview that their daughters Sasha and Malia should know the experience of working a minimum-wage job.

The first lady said she doesn't care what kind of job they get, "just a job that pays them."

"It really doesn't matter what it is," she continued. "I think the whole point is that they learn how to roll up their sleeves and work hard and understand what the vast majority of folks in this country have to do to earn a living and that it's not glamorous and that it's not fun all the time."

Obama recalls own family's struggle with work-life balance in vow to help working families

In an interview with Parade Magazine released last week, the first lady said she worked at a bindery while in high school and the President said he scooped ice cream and worked as a waiter at an assisted living facility.

Those experiences, they’ve said, shaped their understanding of hard work and is something they’d like their daughters to get a taste of.

The summit focused on employee policies that best help working families.

There are a lot of very good conservative pop female candidates , the problem is that the democrat liberal politicians and their toadies in the mainstream media would work so hazard to destroy them and would not report the facts about them. They would not give a conservative woman a free pass like they did her incopetent, inept and corrupt husband.

"...woman president ASAP." Why? Just to be fair? Just to say it happened? Make front page news and appease the liberal hipsters? What we need is a QUALIFIED president, ASAP. Who cares what organs they were born with? America; the country that was.

I'd prefer a system where candidates with the best abilities, intentions, and prowess are elected. Not one where gender, race, religion, and oligarchy take center stage. Too bad we live in the age of sham politics and contentless politicians.

Madam President Hillary Clinton and First Gentleman, President Bill Clinton. Do repubs have anyone that can beat the Clintons in 2016. No, I didn't think so.

Funny....I thought the President should always be chosen based on ideas, position, and intelligence regardless of race, GENDER, religion, etc.

Does anyone notice what is glaringly missing from Michelle Obama's assertion that a woman president "should happen as soon as possible.?" What is missing is the reason why. In fact the reason why is missing from every speech that is made saying the US "needs" a woman president. The mere fact that a candidate for president may be a woman is irrelevant in the minds of most voters. But to the affirmative action crowd – people such as Michelle Obama – electing a woman president is necessary to fulfill some kind of an affirmative action goal, to right some wrong that has nothing to do with qualifications for being president. Michelle might as well say a woman president should happen as soon as possible "just because."

Sure it should happen, but not just because she (whoever the candidate is) is a woman; the point is sex not being something that precludes or promotes a candidate to win the presidency

Only woman on the national stage that would be good at the president job would be Mia Love. But even she is a little young. Needs a little more time.

You tell'em Michelle!!! Why vote on someone because they are skilled, knowledgeable, takented, experienced, and have a solid record of doing what's right for the country? No, lots vote because of their gender!

The First Lady is a bit short sighted.
Being a woman won't get Hillary elected.

She is right, that's the only reason a woman should be the next president because the US needs a woman president to show off to the world, just like the US did with BO....a show piece.

What momma obama has to say if usually a bunch of self center stupid ideas. The asap for a women potus is not what we need and should not focus on gender. We need to focus on honest down to earth person no matter what the gender. That is what is needed ASAP as our current leaderless potus is a joke and does not have a clue on what a REAL President should be doing to protect our constitution and our Freedoms and Liberties. Really the first lady should shut her trap.

These day most all politicians are there for the money and power. They do not serve the Country with their liberal ways. and debt out of control. They buy votes. One day that will come to an abrupt Halt. It is simple, miss management and leaderless way end up in a failed country. Sad ,but true Government operating behind closed door is a map to destruction.

Well MO, we were "ready' for a black president and look what happened. It is utterly ridiculous to say we need a president of a certain race or gender...we need a QUALIFIED president. Your husband and Queen Hillary are not qualified. Sorry.

This country is in dire need of a president with integrity. Hilary does not possess this even in her little finger. Our problems are huge – and to place importance on the gender of the president reveals Michelle Obama's agenda – and ignorance.
