Obama to request billions to deal with border crisis

(CNN) – President Barack Obama will ask Congress on Monday for emergency funds, possibly more than $2 billion, as the United States grapples with a surge of undocumented children and adults crossing the border from Mexico.

A White House official told CNN the money will go to securing appropriate space for the detention of children but also stemming the tide of immigrants. The government hopes to increase its ability to investigate and dismantle smuggling organizations as well as quickly return children and adults to their home countries if they do not qualify for asylum.

Little-known law allows abused immigrant children to stay in the U.S.

The federal government has struggled to process and accommodate the influx of illegal human traffic but specifically the spike in children. They don’t have enough beds, food or sanitary facilities.

U.S. authorities estimate that between 60,000 to 80,000 children without parents will cross the border this year in what the White House is calling an “immediate humanitarian crisis.”

Earlier in June, the White House announced a plan to spend millions in a government-wide response by sending aide to governments in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to help with crime and violence prevention.

In mid-June, Vice President Joe Biden also spoke with leaders in the three countries as well as Mexico about working together to promote security.

Biden’s objective was to emphasize that adults arriving with their children in the United States don’t meet the requirements for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which defers deportation for children brought to the United States before June 15, 2012.

Obama also spoke with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto about the issue and has warned families who see the dangerous trip as the best option for their children.

“Do not send your children to the borders. If they do make it, they’ll get sent back. More importantly, they may not make it,” Obama said to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos.

The White House will also ask Congress to ensure that the administration has the authority it deems necessary to effectively use these funds. That includes expanded authority for Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in processing the return and removal of unaccompanied minor children and increased penalties for individuals who smuggle minors across the border.

CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta contributed to this report.

How about Obama enforce the laws already in place and let border patrol do the job they were put there to do.

turning off the busted faucet after the house is already flooded is pointless. throwing money at the problem isn't going to help anything. he should have done this many years ago, but no, he openly stated we welcome illegals with open arms, and now they just walk in the country without fear of deportation or jail.

A secured border would prevent this kind of thing from happening in the first place. Yet another problem the administration didn't know about, or just ignored, until it showed up in the news.

As long as the money is spent on plane flights to central America and increased border security great!

Instead of spending money to build new detention centers why don't we just change the law. If you arrive here undocumented whether as an adult or minor you will be deported back to your home country within 24 hours. If these people are so poor how can they spend the hundred or thousands of dollars to illegally immigrate themselves or their children here? If we start shipping them back immediately then maybe they'll decide to spend their hard earned money elsewhere...like creating a better life and society in their home countries.

Imagine if you built a fence around a picnic blanket...and spread it with all kinds of food. You noticed after a while there were ants going straight thru the fence and climbing right up and onto the blanket. They began to take over the picnic blanket and devouring the food! You sat there and scratched your head wondering why those ants did that....you would think....how can I stop those ants from taking over my picnic blanket full of food. A BRILLIANT idea cam thru you head and you came to the conclusion that maybe...JUST MAYBE if you would put a seal on each of the different foods then the ants would not come. They would have no reason to invade your picnic because there would be nothing for them to eat. They would go back to their own area and forage for food and not come mooching off of you. You then realize that you never really needed a fence or anything...JUST KEEP THE ANTS FROM GETTING ANYTHING OF YOURS AND THEY NEVER WILL BOTHER YOU!!!

I'm sick to say this, but I say we should go on Jury Duty and NULLIFY any crime committed against an illegal, save that by a trafficker or employer. If they weren't in this country illegally, no crime in this country could be committed against them.

The Elites here have too much control. Any victory in politics or the media is overwhelmed by an avalanche of money. Any attempt to stop tax funded exporting of jobs (and trade secrets, technology) to China and elsewhere is likewise covered up.

Their weak spot is illegal immigration, to flood the labor pool to combined with jobs exported keep us desperate. We need to pressure at the state and local level for officials to arrest employers of illegals and yes to nullify any crimes against them. A few high profile trials followed by hundreds of officials demanding essentially an instant retirement to a tropical island for the tiniest of favors will stop this. They'll go back to Mexico which will then disintegrate in Civil War, and that will take out a lot of 'outsourced' business with it. Suddenly not a flood of labor or export options, wages will go sky high by "The Law of Supply and Demand"

Because borrowing money from China to spend on illegal aliens, depriving U.S. citizens of the Constitutional liberty, and pushing homosexuality on school children is what bathhouse Barry does best.

Obama should enforce our immigration laws. Homeland Security should enforce the laws they are charged with and ignore Obama's political hacks and Obama himself. Our country and preservation of its laws are far more important than one person's warped view of our society.
