Monica Lewinsky: ‘I was a virgin to humiliation of that level’

(CNN) - After a self-imposed exile from the public eye, former White House intern Monica Lewinsky appeared on Tuesday in her first interview in a decade.

In a National Geographic documentary on the 1990s, Lewinsky, “the most humiliated woman in the world,” described the public shaming as former President Bill Clinton’s mistress as “alarming … frightening … confusing … and excruciating.”

“I was a virgin to humiliation of that level,” Lewinsky said in the documentary that was previewed on NBC's “Today Show.”

She described the day special prosecutor Kenneth Starr released his nearly 500-page report on Clinton as “one of the worst days of my life.”

Lewinsky’s interview is another step in her re-emergence and attempt to write her own narrative after humiliation by critics, comedy writers, paparazzi and the Clintons. In recently found documents from the Clinton White House, then-first lady Hillary Clinton described her as a “narcissistic looney toon.”

Lewinsky’s gradual re-entrance into the public eye was launched in May with a Vanity Fair biographic essay where she wrote, “It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress. And move forward.”

In political extramarital affairs, the mistress rarely emerges unscathed

She wrote that she could no longer put her life on hold for another decade as Hillary Clinton contemplates a presidential bid.

“I turned 40 last year, and it is time to stop tiptoeing around my past—and other people’s futures,” she wrote.

In addition to her media appearances, her social life is becoming more public as well. She was also seen at a high-profile event in London on Monday evening, according to the Daily Mail.

Hillary Clinton mostly dismisses questions about Lewinsky. During a media rollout of her new book, “Hard Choices,” where she was asked about Lewinsky, Hillary Clinton said she had “moved on” and would “wish her well.”

And almost all of the humiliation and vitriol came from the left. The one who are supposed to support women. At least that's what they tell us....

You cannot let yourself worry about what other people might think. Being true to yourself is all that really matters Get out there and enjoy life. But, hey, what do I know? No one else had ever walked across that particular set of burning coals before.

The famous "move on" line from the democrats. It doesn't make the demons go away – you and your husband and Monica are forever tied to this scandal – you went on to make millions, your husband remained president, but Monica went into exile. Well, she's back. And the world knows what happened. Move on?

So saving the dress, without having it cleaned was just innocent, and nativity? She's being paid to act like this, but the less intelligent will soak it up like gravy

She was shamed in order to protect the serial cheater Bill Clinton. Monica was a victim just like Hillary but has suffered far worse. The conservatives uses her as a weapon and liberals shun her because she shows the ugly side of Bill Clinton.

Yeah, she underestimated the forces that were up against her once SHE made a decision to try and frame the president for her consensual immoral act. Yeah, we feel real sorry for you : (

Notice how she insists its time to move past this, but won't stop talking about it? Reminds me of a SNL skit, now that I think about it, most their actions do.

Monica you made the biggest mistake by going into hiding. You were the victim. You should have filed criminal charges against clinton. People argued he was the president, but such people don't deserve to be president. You should have come forth and spoken the truth. The thick skinned president is still enjoying life, whereas you are miserable. Moreover a woman who was incapable of controlling of managing her husband is going to run for presidency. That is entirely your fault. Had you come forth at that time, they would have died of embarrassment! You my dear are a very lovely and nice woman.

What do you expect from Hillary? Why on earth would she hold her husband responsible for breaking the trust in their marriage? Democrats always assail the victims, and coddle the perpetrators. And who is waging a war on women?

Good for Monica Lewinsky. Stand up, get out there and share your story.

Is she being funded by the GOP or what? Funny how she keeps popping up now. I know she had a rough go but come on, now she has joined the ranks with everyone else who wants to get paid to tell all. At her age even I knew screwing around with a married guy was a no no.
