(CNN) - President Barack Obama dared Republicans to follow through on their threats to bring a lawsuit against his administration over his use of executive action.
"Middle-class families can’t wait for Republicans in Congress to do stuff. So sue me," Obama said Tuesday at an event in Washington.

"As long as they’re doing nothing, I’m not going to apologize for trying to do something."
Obama’s defiant attitude comes as House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican from Ohio, plans to propose legislation that could bring a lawsuit against him for implementing executive actions that the GOP contends amounts to a breach of his constitutional power by side-stepping the legislative process.
Obama: Boehner's lawsuit is 'a stunt'
Recently, Obama has ramped up his use of executive authority as a way to bypass a deeply divided Congress, avoiding inaction on issues the White House has made hallmarks of the President's second term agenda.
On Monday, Obama said he would start "a new effort to fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own, without Congress."
Poll: Can Obama get the job done?
At Tuesday's event, Obama continued to harp on congressional Republicans to pass legislation - this time pushing them to invest in transportation.
Standing in front of Key Bridge, which connects the city's Georgetown-area to Virginia, Obama continued his stepped-up rhetoric hammering Republican for obstructing action in Washington.
Obama proposed a long-term highway construction bill earlier this year that he says would spur job growth.
"It’s not crazy, it’s not socialism," Obama said of his transportation proposal. "It’s not the imperial presidency - no laws are broken. We’re just building roads and bridges like we’ve been doing for the last, I don’t know, 50, 100 years. But so far, House Republicans have refused to act on this idea."
CNN's Mike Ahlers and Rene Marsh contributed to this report.

'Coloradogirl
Obama, the confronter in chief. I sure wish he would lead the country instead of picking fights with the house.'
He is picking fights? Who is it that is threatening to sue him? Dont blame the guy for responding to threats.
Can't blame the POTUS for trying to do his job when the members of Congress refuse to do theirs. The POTUS was elected by a MAJORITY of the American People, Congress was not. The POTUS ran on these very issues (Immigration, health care, etc.), and the Majority of the American People (by a large margin) indorsed his agenda. However, the GOP doesn't really care WHAT the American People want, the GOP just cares about its narrow (minded) agenda catering to its loudest voices (not smartest, just LOUDEST).
Gig 'em
Obama is a loser.

'Mike – why should the Republican controlled congress pass bills that they don't like but Obama does? Why should the right always give way to the left? Every time the right moves left to meet in the middle, the left moves farther left and wants more and more. '

Saying 'No' to everything is not moving left. When have they ever moved to the left to meet in the middle?
President Obama is an arrogant person/Leader. Even if he doesn't like what someone else in government is doing; he is behaving like a child. He doesn't know how to be President. Making comments like crack being in the White House Pies is so unprofessional. Those are the kind of comments one would make at a private party. This President keeps showing more and more that he really doesn't know how to be a President.
Well done! President Obama can't wait for Boehner and his pals to come up with something as they are all talk and no action. Their only goal is to keep the President from enacting anything that might be helpful to the people of this country and might be a feather in the cap for the Democratic Party in the next elections... it's been this way since the President was elected the first time and has continued ever since.
Anybody who thinks this president is tyrannical or arrogant hasn't been following matters with an open eye. He is confronted with political opponents with no plan to regain power except to deliberately screw up the government, then blame the "guy in charge," and offer themselves as the only alternative. But the fact is, this president's policies are hardly to blame for the country's problems, because he's barely been able to impleiment any of his policies. I support him. He is a wall of reason holding back a tide of irrational anger and willful ignorance.
'Tim ......Congress sees through the Presidents' tactics, and has decided not to play. Why can't the American people see?'
Congress has an approval rating fluctuating around 10% and lower. The American people can see plainly enough thanks.
I voted for John McCain for Prez and now I find the Republican party sickening. They have blocked every bill that would have helped the middle class: less taxes, jobs. So evident the party completely owned by the rich is content with the status quo, stock market is going up and they are getting richer by the minute. I do not agree with some of moronic things the Democrats have done, but if you are a Republican and make less than 10 million a year, you are really, really uninformed. You are a pawn and your they do not give a damn about you except for your vote. What have the Republicans done or tried to do to help America in the last 6 years? Yes, that is correct, NOTHING.
Love this. Absolutely love it. About time too! We've been stuck for way too long thanks to bipartisan bickering.
'Ginger ....for making my insurance go up because us working people have to feed your "Obamacare" for those who don't and won't get off their lazy behinds and get a job like the rest of us.'
What are you on about? You know Obamacare actually makes people be responsible for their own healthcare right? It doesnt ask you to cover people that dont work. Besides, arent you lot also moaning about there are no jobs? which is it? no jobs or 'too lazy to work'?
' I am sick of the "race card" being played everytime something is said. I hear more disparaging remarks about white people than I do blacks AND no one ever says anything about that. and this country screams "racism" about everything.'
If you dont want the race card played then maybe you need to stop making comments like 'Obama is only for two things, blacks and mexicans'
President Obama keep your head up .
BREAKING NEWS:
"Obama walks on water."
GOP response – "Only because Kenyans can't swim."
bHo is proving himself as an idiot, just like I'v been saying all along. Worst EVER !
Most of the comments on here a baseless and racist. You're a bunch of ditto head morons and your GOP leaders ride you like the toothless beasts that you are. America is on the rapid crumble and you "oh great 'mericans" are blessing that crumble. Blame Obama all you want but the truth is your ignorance about everything around you is a cancer to us all.
Miguel, you claim "Everything the man has touched is as[sic] disaster"... what do you expect when ONE person has to do not only his job, but the 500+ other people's jobs as well?
Not really sure where the dictator claims are coming from, either. He's doing his job. Unfortunately, he's also doing Congress' job for them since they refuse to do it themselves.
I'm not a big fan, but I will give credit where it's due. He's manned up and is at least making an effort, as opposed to the freeloaders in the House.
I wish we had the form of government that some other countries have that if a leaders popularity falls below a certain level than elections are called. No more having to put up with a leader whos effectiveness and popularity our in sad shape.
I find it very amusing that there are people who are so infuriated by this POTUS that they are emboldened to say anything regardless how it reflects back on them. The simple fact is that this POTUS has had the most antisocial opposition in recent memory that just does everything to try to make him look bad. But they are not fooling the majority of Americans who voted for him. Every specious argument is transparent to the word despite their hyperbolic lamentations. Maybe that's the ticket. You have fought so hard to ridicule, you end up with the egg on your own faces. So, rise up on your haunches, let the hair stand up on your necks, let the blood vessels in your necks and foreheads stretch and pulsate with indignant outrage. You are all working very hard on your own Darwin awards. And there are those among us that will celebrate the day. When reason and good will returns to the body politic and participation will be the watch word of the day. Until then, pull up your britches tightly into your armpits and wave your bricks like a good little twits are know to do, and keep on howling at the rain.
I'm with President Obama: Sue him if the GOP wants or even better why don't they try to impeach him!
Good for Obama! If the republicans can't do anything but stall programs or throw stones or otherwise halt important agendas, then let's just do it without them. They aren't doing their job so someone has to do it for them.
My heart goes out for this man. The
President tries and tries time and time again, all they do is block him and try to make him look bad. I am so over this. You are a strong man Mr. President! I will be glad when this is over.
Done. Papers on the way.
" At what point will you, as a citizen, become concerned about the actions of this administration?" Where were you when drunken Dubya went off to Crawford and let Lord Cheney lead us to war? You loved every minute of it, because they were jacking your patriotism gland. Now the money's been spent and you whine, whine, whine because the black guy ain't fixing it fast enough? Make your elected representatives pass some jobs bills, and then maybe I'll believe you are actually concerned about this country and not just your sad little party. Until then, hush. We don't need more no, no, no from you bleating sheep.
Typical neoCon responses on this blog. If neoCONS don't send your jobs overseas they'll send your kids instead! Go get'm Mr President. I stand with the president!
